Q: Are these considered to be crew socks?

Yes , They go above the ankle and just under my calf. I never had a more comfortable sock. These are very well made and not thin, They have a thick bottom for wear and comfort. Best Socks ever !

Absolutely!! These are the most comfortable heavy sock that I've found. My favorite!

These socks completely cover the ankles up to the calf but they do not go all the way over the calf. They are very comfortable - so much so that I ordered another set to have lots in stock.
