Q: Buying this for my husband... would you suggest to size up if he tends to wear hoodies plus the coat?

I bought the coat in my usual size and it is plenty big for hoodies, sweaters or whatever you’re wearing.

Q: Will this product hold a G2C 9mm

It will hold a G2C. I have put a G2 millennium in mine. It isn't the best at holding a pistol and has a tendency to show if the coat is open. Easy to access but not locked down. Don't jump around for the firearm may fall out. Kind of a shame because it is a nice coat. The magazine holders are really good.
