Legere Alto Saxophone American Cut 2.25

Purchased for my son he seems happy with the item

This American cut has made quite a difference, and I really feel it has made playing easier me. (I'm 74 and don't have the "puff" for some of the others!!)

I normally play the Legere Signature reeds (2.5), this is the first American Cut I’ve tried and I prefer it to the Signature Reed, it gives a good low response and the tone sounds ‘warm’ great in a Jazz context.

These reeds are great,but the quality control at Amazon leaves a lot to be desired. In this case the tip was damaged so reed useless,it had to be returned. Selected option for it to be collected by Royal Mail on designated days, did not happen so why offer this service? going to local post office now instead. I informed Amazon of this and got a generic response. My advice to Amazon is do not allow reeds to be returned as clearly the last person to test it damaged it and the problem landed with me,not good enough. Another reed I bought lower strength also a warehouse deal arrived in a disgusting state,but I disinfected it,again nobody checked. This is not good enough,if Amazon wish to sell used synthetic reeds the quality control needs to be addressed or do not allow returns due to hygienic or misuse from other people issues.

I have used Legere signature and found them to be very good, the American cut takes a little longer to adapt to (for me) but prefer it now.

I bought this reed with a bit of a skeptical expectation, but I just admit I am thoroughly surprised and pleased. I’m playing on a Yahama YAS-62, which has a nice full sound. I’ve tried numerous brands and strengths of cane reeds, am gotten good results, but versatility has always been an issue. I bought a 2.25 strength in these and wow!( I usually buy 3s in cane reeds, and Sam’s them a little only I am happy with the sound.) I read some reviews and took some advice on strength.) I feel I can play sweet or aggressive on the same reed. I will admit that my bottom lip does seem to hurt a little more than normal. But the sound is awesome. Gonna try on soprano as well.

The American cut seems a little more responsive than the Signature, which was my prevous favorite. I love Legere reeds, good sound, reliable for many months and no time wasted messing around like with cane to make them work well.
