Amazing recovery food for health or digestive issues.
I’ve used this food in the past for chins that have had issues eating due to dental problems as well as chins that had weight issues. 100% recommend. It gives them the extra support they need and can be used as a great quality regular diet.

So much better than Charlie Chinchilla Food.
This is the only brand of pellets that my chins will eat! I had a mixed blend of pellets and colored, fruity things, and naturally, they began picking the fruity pieces out and wasting all of the pellets! That was SUCH a waste of money. Now, they don't waste any of it! I feel much better about the ingredients in this chin food. When you open the bag, you can smell the freshness. I buy the Sherwood Baby Chinchilla Food too (because for some reason my adult chins like it more) and mix the two. Overall, a much better investment, not just for my bank account, but also for the health of my chins.

tips on switching to sherwood
Looks much fresher than other foods! My chinchilla prefers his old food (oxbow, not treat laden by any means) probably because it tastes more like a special treat as it contains grains. Because of this, i could not switch him gradually as most vets suggest as he would just pick out the old food.i suspect that the strong smell of the grain free formula is partly to blame. I finally got him to eat it by trickery - dried goji berries are my chins favorite treat (and mine as he gets the vitamin c he needs and goji has little sugar ). So I took about 10 dry berries and put them in a small glass Tupperware then measured out one day worth of sherwood and put it with the berries. The next day, when it is dinner time, i REMOVE THE GOJI BERRIES and give him the pellets, which now smell fantastically like goji! Please, do not leave whatever' treat potpourri ' in when you feed your chin, the large quantity ( as opposed to the 1 berry per week he eats ) will make them ill or at least make selective eating (and rejection of new sherwood food during transition ) much worse. Try dry apples, or lemon grass, chamomile, or rosehip to perfume the sherwood, and your chinchilla will be happy and healthy in no time!

Never in my life a better family
Dr. Sherwood also known s David my loving friend who we met by the worst of circumstances through Amazon this company cares more about me and my animals then my own family he sacrificed 14 years of his life not to become some pompous rich man but to give back and help every animal every human people he doesn't even know it's a Christian company in times of uncertainty meaning christ-like to follow in his footsteps at my weakest point in my life when I felt there was no one I could trust David's true love for animals and for for people and all living things saved me in loving memory of a devil who's now an angel and for those who wish harm on animals just know there's a lot of people out there who will find you

two of my chins love it, two not so much
very fresh, small pellets, two of my chins love it, two not so much. I can tell it's good quality and well-made without harmful/fattening ingredients. Only that the nutrition list does not have much variation of nutrition listed. Again I also do not know fully what nutrition is a must for chinchillas. So overall I am satisfied.

The pellets smell really fresh and healthy (a little like nori seaweed to me)
The pellets smell really fresh and healthy (a little like nori seaweed to me). The ziplock seal is a little fiddly for me to press close everyday, so I decant a month's worth into a tupperware container so the main package can stay fresher longer.

chinchillas had less energy due to lower protein and higher fat content
My chinchillas had bigger, healthier poops due to the higher fiber, which was great! But after a few months on these pellets they had less energy. I slowly noticed they stopped running on their wheels as much and didn't have their playtime bursts of energy, and mainly slept and ate. No other changes were made besides these pellets, and both chinchillas are housed separately and have different personalities. After months on these pellets, I switched back to their original food, and their energy increased again. Published veterinarian scientific guidelines for chinchilla pellets are: protein 16-20%, fat 2-5%, and fiber 15-35%. Sherwood pellets are minimum 15% protein (too low), minimum 5% fat (slightly too high), and minimum 25% fiber (excellent amount). The lower protein explains my chinchillas' lack of energy. The ingredients list is alfalfa and timothy hay, oil from seeds, and vitamins/minerals. These ingredients provide fiber and fat, but lack significant protein and high-carb ingredients for energy. I really appreciate the no-soy, but grains are nutritionally valuable if organic. If they revise their ingredients, I'd try the pellets again. The ingredients need major improvements. My chinchillas were not thriving on these pellets, but they are thriving after switching them back to their original popular food.
