Ink does not retract far enough.
I really wanted to like this pen. However, after carrying it for only half a day, I noticed pen marks all over my shirt pocket! I took the pen and rubbed the tip on my finger and found that it still left a mark even with the tip retracted! I figured I could shave off a bit of the plastic end of the ink cartridge, but I shouldn't have to modify a $100 pen just for it to work properly!

A great pen, and quite weighty
A great pen, and quite weighty. Sometimes billed as a "tactical pen", though I feel it doesn't quite fit that category. It lacks some of the features that other tactical pens often have, such as knurling, sharp points, etc. this is more of a cross between an executive and tactical pen; it looks less out of place in an office setting than true tactical pens. The pen comes with a Schmidt refill, which writes very smooth. However, I replaced it with a Fisher Space Pen refill. When you buy one of these refills in retail packaging (available here on Amazon), it comes with an adapter to allow it to fit Parker pens, which is the same form factor of this Surefire pen. It's just a little plastic extension piece that fits on the end of the refill. The Fisher refill is not as smooth as the Schmidt refill that comes in the pen, but it does allow you to write in any orientation (like upside-down), or on Rite in the Rain paper.

Awesome but
Love the grip, feel, and weight of the pen, the only issue I see is the roughnes of the clicking of the pen. Mine feels like metal on metal. Not very smooth.

Made in the USA
Who really needs a $100 pen? Well not really anyone… that being said this is a superb writing instrument. It’s smooth as butter and has a quality weighted feel in your hand. I even put mine through the washer when I first got it. Came out writing like the day I pulled it out of the package. Buy one do it you want to.

Amazing!
This pen is amazing! I bought it as a gift for my boyfriend and when I received it I thought I'd try it out...it writes so smooth and the pen itself has a really great feel to it. I liked it so much that I'm considering buying an additional one for myself. It is definitely worth the money, you're getting what you pay for!
