One of the best
I didn't buy this toy because I like Sideswipe. I didn't purchase this action figure because of the movie. I got it because some guy posted a bunch of pictures of Sideswipe with a completely different paint job. And no, that paint job doesn't make him look like the G1 version. He repainted Sideswipe to look like Garrus Vakarian from "Mass Effect". It's stunning. More amazing is the head sculpt. It's almost identical to Garrus' spikey turian head. I bought this figure to attempt the same repaint. For fans who REALLY like Sideswipe, one of the best things you can say about this is that he's actually rather easy to transform. His car form looks great, and his robot form is pretty sleek too.

Great looking toys, and fun to transform.
My son loves these toys - he's collecting all of the Dark of the Moon versions. They're great looking toys, and fun to transform.

but I feel like I'm twisting the rod it's connected to
My figure arrived a little early, however the only issue I found was that one of the shoulders is extremely tight to the point where I don't think I'm moving the ball joint, but I feel like I'm twisting the rod it's connected to. It's something I could probably fix with a little oil, but it really should not have been that tight.

Can't get cheaper than this!!!!
Very cheap plastic. Barely transformable.

Collectors and parents pass on this one!
I would not buy this toy for a child or as a collector. It is the loosest and hardest to transform toy I've bought for my five year old son. The hood piece does not stay on because it was manufactured wrong and the car mode is impossible to get tight. The only redeeming quality of the toy is the weapon, which swings out like a knife when you "fire" it. My son loves the weapon and uses it with his other transformers. Save your money and buy a better toy.

Good Looking Movie Sideswipe with some problems
First off, to try to be objective, I am warning readers that I am not a fan of the whole MechTech gimick. I think that it's ridiculous to have a figure carry around a weapon almost as big as they are, but I understand the draw for kids. That being said, even after taking away the huge weapons, it just seemed like a majority of the figures from the second movie just look better than the ones from Dark of the Moon. I can't help but compare this Sideswipe to the Sideswipe from Revenge of the Fallen, and that one just looks so much better, in all modes. The plastic is now a dull gray instead of a shiny silver, and for some reason, it doesn't seem to keep it's shape as well, either (which is kind of weird, since it's still made of a hard plastic). A good example of this is the hood of the car, which ends up being Sideswipe's back in robot form, and on the one I had, the hinge was a little warped, so it did not stay on properly. It will fit in vehicle mode, but ends up being a separate piece when he's a robot. I will say that if the color wasn't the dull gray, and the parts stayed on like they are supposed to, I would have given him a full 5 star rating, because he does look pretty good (even with the huge gun), and unlike other MechTech figures, he is actually proportioned well (still do not get the whole huge legs, tiny upper body and arms of Optimus Prime and some of the other figures). A solid 3, maybe an extra half because it's Sideswipe.
