Good solid camera let down by cabling
This is our second ERA protect camera- we also have the ERA floodlight camera so we knew what we were getting with the app, which is good and has always been reliable. Again the camera itself is a solidly built unit. Our first one for some reason went completely dead after 24 hours but with Amazon customer service and returns being what it is, it was easy enough getting a replacement and this one has been working flawlessly for a few weeks. One one downside for us at least is the cabling. It comes with a built in POE cable with a male connection at the end, which is pretty short. This needs to plug into an injector, which then connects up to an AC adapter. So for us at least, installing just above head height and feeding the POE cable through the cavity wall, you are left with a relatively short bit of POE cable connected up to the injector which ends up half way down the wall. Therefore if you want to chase the cable into the wall, the options are a bit limited. Perhaps the POE cable could have been a bit longer.

Good camera, requires ongoing subscription
This is a high quality and well-made security camera. The camera is sturdily built from metal, compact, with a white powder-effect finish. It’s fairly unobtrusive-looking. We have this as a standalone device, not having any other parts of the ERA Protect Plus security system. This is a wired camera, not one with a battery power source, and so needs a hole to be drilled through an exterior wall to allow the cable to run between the camera and a plug socket. It’s recommended that this be mounted within 10m of your router (unless you have a wireless extender or use ethernet cabling to connect this to your home network). Even with the supplied drilling template, getting the power cable through the wall was harder and messier than the instructions made it sound – these show a single thickness wall, not cavity walls with bead insulation. Once installed and up and running, this is an effective camera, with good, clear picture. The motion detector works nicely and is not over-sensitive – it doesn’t get triggered by the dog running round outside, or the enormous wood pigeons that live in our trees (these types of ‘false alarms’ and lots of unnecessary footage had been a concern) but is set off by people accessing the house.Although the camera comes with a 2 month subscription to ERA Protect Plus (with a rolling subscription at either £9.99 per month or £99 for an annual subscription), there is a less expensive – and less feature-intensive option – if, like us, you have just the camera. This allows you to sign up for 7 day rolling storage (rather than the 30 day coverage offered with the higher cost subscription) without notification options for £2.99 monthly or an annual subscription of £29.

Reasonable image. note you have only got 3 months free then you are required to pay monthly.
I did not like the shock of realising there is a month fee to use the cloud and watch any event log. This information was never disclosed within the text on the box or website.

Excellent solid camera with metal exterior
I'm always looking to improve the security in and outside my home, so when I saw this ERA camera, I was keen to order. The item came well packaged and presented. The first thing I noticed about the camera was the solid metal exterior...I really like this and think it makes it stand out from a lot of other wifi cameras on the market. It feels extremely solid and good quality...so I guess the price is justified (as I thought it was far to expensive initially, before realising the exterior was metal). Included with the camera is all required mounting accessories, along with power/ethernet cables (can be used on WiFi). Another bonus with this camera is that the cables are hidden in the mounting bracket, making it less likely to be tampered with! The app works very well and allows you to manage all aspects of the camera. The only downside to this camera is the subscription costs, which are £9.99 a month...I do find this a little high when compared to other security camera providers. Overall I am very happy with the camera and would recommend to others.
