This was a gift to a woman, age 98, who lives in a senior's apartment... which has heavy doors that close if not held. She loved tge Scottie dog on sight, and now is able to prop open her door without fear of falling as she goes out to get her newspaper each morning. A door stop might not seem that important, but when it can assure that my dog stays inside when I open the outside door, that is important. It is only as effective as it is handy to use, so it needs to be out and in reach at all times. When I can achieve this with beauty and a high level of "cute" I am happy as can be. It is heavy enough to resist a determined terrier and designed so no bending or searching required to use it. Unboxing this doorstop was promising! The pup looks great and it seemed nicely weighted and the long handle made it easy to move around because you don't have to lean down to pick it up. However, the long handle does make it prone to tip over and the first time it did- THE HANDLE BROKE OFF! Looking at where it separated, it was weakly tacked on. Ended up throwing the handle away, sanded the dog's back and spray painted it to use elsewhere in the house.

Love this product. Have now purchased 3 of them. The height of handle is great. would not want shorter & all others with tall handle are shorter, Great weight & the figurine - scottie dog is really cute. I have a 15 lb Mexican hairless dog who can open all the gates/small fences in the house. This is the only product that he can't get past.

I chose this for the weight, and so we do not have to bend down all the way to the ground, I like the handle height.also cute dog...prob will order 1 more for my 2nd home.

Arrived early and heavier then expected. I like the fact it's a painted brown rustic look, no chance of leaving rust marks on the flooring, and best of all no bending over to jam one of those rubber things under the door, they never hold.

It's not quite the weight reported, but honestly, I don't think those few ounces would make a difference. We were looking for a doorstop to keep our german shepherd from opening doors, and this one (at 5.7 pounds) was no where heavy enough.
