DG Whole Dry Yellow Peas, 10 lbs.

Soak overnight, low boil for about two hours, best pea soup I've had in fifty years. A little pricy, but so is everything else these days.

About 40% of the peas stayed hard, never got soft. Tried making 2 different batches, same problem. Bought these in the past and they where great. Not this time. Totally bummed, smelled great while it cooked but not edible with "crunchy" peas. I've been cooking pea soup the same way for 30+ years never had this issue until I used this batch of peas.

I was born in Germany and my grandmother used to make whole yellow pea soup a lot and I loved it,I am so happy I found them here online,because they are not available in the stores here in Michigan,you can buy yellow split peas but that just isn't the same,I reordered them recently because I went through the first ten pounds rather quickly,I did give some to my son and also to a german friend,thank you so much for carrying them,when these ten pounds are gone I will order again,happy holidays,Christel.

I needed some yellow peas for a Polish receipe. I really didn't want 10 pounds of them, but that's the only way I could find them. Their taste is not terrific. I have used them in some other recipes. I suggest mixing them in with lots of other things, like in vegetable soup. I still lots of peas left. Wonder if I will ever use all of them although they don't seem to deteriorate much over time.

If you are in an area where you cannot find good-quality dried yellow peas at all, then I would buy these. They are a good deal in comparison to other sellers charging up to $7.00 for a single pound. I do not know if they are the best quality peas on Amazon, but they offer the most peas for the price.I have bought store brands like Great Value because they were the only thing available after I moved and I have found these to be a much better investment. At ~$1.89 per lb. these peas cost me just the same as the said store brands but they do not remain hard like little rocks and have the taste of chalk.10 lbs. really is not that much if you plan to eat them regularly. Properly stored in an airtight container in a dry place, they can last several months to a few years.Spending $20.00 all at once for them hurt, but in the long run I think they are worth buying. A happy find for someone who does not have a lot of money.

I would prefer to have them in 1 lb bags, instead of 10 lbs, but the price was reasonable and they are good peas to make soup.

Product that should last several months had an approximate 3 week expiration date.
