Get this one: comparison with Oxo SoftWorks
I've had the 9-in version of this used daily for over a decade, at it's still good as new, minus a few nicks and some patina (last picture). No oxidation, no melting plastic or rubber.Because I love these tongs, and looking to build out some dedicated "camping" utensils, I picked up a pair of 12-in Oxo SoftWorks tongs at my local retailer, what I thought was the same thing. It wasn't. Oxo Good Grips is an excellent product. Oxo SoftWorks is unsatisfying.Differences (pictured):- Good Grips locking mechanism is rubber molded over stainless steel. SoftWorks is plastic.- Good Grips metal is thicker gauge (see exposed ends).- Good Grips rubber handle grips are thicker with thumb contour. SoftWorks are flat.- Good Grips has a beefier spring.Similarities:- Same nylon heads.Altogether, the Good Grips tongs have a dramatically more solid, higher quality feel to them. The locking mechanism:I've used a tongs with a variety of locking mechanisms over the years. Squeeze to lock. Gravity rivet. That sliding wire loop.In my opinion Oxo is either the best or equal to the best. Is it strictly one-handed? No. But it is one handed to open: squeeze, push in lock. The mechanism is simple and bulletproof: never breaks or degrades. And it elegantly incorporates a hole for hanging.Easy to clean? Maybe kinda sorta? They're tongs. They have recessed areas and moving parts. I don't wash these in the dishwasher, so I've probably hand washed them (9-in) a thousand times. They're not hard to get clean. But I definitely avoid getting massive amounts of dried greasy food crammed up into the hinge. The materials, stainless steel, nylon heads, all very easy to clean and stand up to a good scrubbing with reasonable tools. No green ScotchBrite. No brillo pads.

Great when handling food, not so much with fire
Pros - Easy to useStores easily with the locking mechanismCons - they are wide when unlocked.Melts when next to fire (more info about that later) :)We've had these tongs for a few years now. They work well and are easy to grip. They handle hot food nicely as well. These tongs were the preferred tongs in the kitchen by my wife, so naturally when I left them too close to our ignited burner while cooking and relealized there was no saving them, I immediately went to Amazon and purchased a replacement. The replacement is just as nice as our old one. An easy recommendation to purchase.

The best kitchen tongs for spaghetti or roasting veggies or flipping steaks.
I cook a lot & like to use tools that do their job without breaking or falling apart in the middle of making a meal. That's why I trust OXO products, they're well made & stand up to the test of time. These tongs are another great product with extra features to make cooking easier. I've had these 8 years & they work just as good as when I purchased them. The silicone handles help you maintain your grip even when they get damp from steam coming up out of the pot. The ends are coated with silicone so they don't scratch your pans and are heat resistant. They are 12" long so I can use them to reach into the hot oven & move food around in the baking dish without getting burnt. And I love the push button on the end which keeps the tongs closed so they don't spring open & splatter food everywhere. If my hands are full I've been known to push or pull the silicone coated button with my teeth or against my chin-not a good idea I know but sometimes you need 3 hands to cook! What I really need is my own personal prep chef...does Amazon offer those?

Good tongs!
These are very handy. They can grip good and the locking mechanism is super convenient for making the tongs not take up space. It's simple enough where you can unlock and relock it one-handed with ease.I can't say too much about heat resistance since I haven't shoved these into super duper hot pots or ovens but I've used to deal with foods in air fryers and to handle other hot foods and the nylon ends don't show any signs of melting.I also know my dad used these for grilling without me knowing, which did cause some soot to build up but I just cleaned that off. Again, nylon is fine.

Just what I was looking for
These are very sturdy and the silicon over the tips grips the food I turn over better than others that are all metal. I bought it to use with my air fryer and it's great. It's definitely easier to use than a pancake turner or spoon. They actually close so that the tips meet. Hurrah! The food doesn't slip when I flip.

Excellent Kitchen Tongs
I don't know why we waited so long to buy these tongs, they are far and away the best we have ever had. Our old plastic pair finally broke and buying these was a game-changer. They are easy to use and feel comfortable in hand. The look is sleek and it is nice to be able to lock them in the closed position when storing them. The only downside is the channels on the interior of the tong handles sometimes collects food and would be easier to clean if it was box shaped rather than u shaped, but that is a minor inconvenience. Would recommend!
