Q: How many times can the phill container be used? When does it stop being effective in the water?

Hi Michelle, My Prills are 17 years old and they still work great! A few people have needed to soak them in a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to brighten them or if they develop algae, but this does not impact the effectiveness.

Q: Can these be used to treat drinking water the same as the small packages that are sold for water treatment?

That is what the pellets are for - to naturally ionize the water you drink. Hopefully you are filtering out the toxins (pesticides/herbicides/heavy metals/ect) with a .5 micron or smaller filter before you ionize the water. That filter will remove 99.9% of the bad stuff.

Q: Does the water used for the prill beads have to be filtered first?

I don't actually know the correct answer for this, but I would think it would be a matter of the quality of your water. If you have good water, I wouldn't filter it. If your water has a lot of chlorine or other contaminates, I would filter first.

Q: What is the difference btwn prills in container ($1.25/ounce) and the laundry bag($6.30/ounce)?

The prills themselves in both the container and the pouch are the same. The difference in price is related to the materials and labor that go into making the laundry pouch. It is made with a heavy duty canvas fabric, double stitched, and then the edges are finished. Some people like to make their own laundry pouch and just buy the prill jar to get started.
