Needed for my unit to plant different seeds in my garden. Works great. Been using the seeder for about 4 years and the disc works great.

There are only a few options for direct-seeding a garden, get down on your knees to dribble seeds into a furrow, or buy a machine mounted seed drill for a lot of money. For gardeners who want to plant more than a few feet of row, there are no easy solutions. The Earthway seeder is a compromise, but a pretty good one IMO. It is well made and works as advertised, but it is light weight, requires a well-prepared bed to work well, and can be hard to keep in a straight line. The plates are not real good for small seeds- I planted white clover and got a very dense planting. Still, I think with some work (maybe blocking some of the openings in the plate) I can get the density I need. Overall this is a good machine, and the price is outstanding.

The seed plates complement the set that is original equipment. These optional plates allow more versility to you planting. And are a exactly as the original in form fit and functionality, the color is different but only potatos have eyes the rest of your seeds will not notice the color difference.Flawless good investment in future crops.
