Q: SInce this effect is based on voltage, does it respond differently to active pickups vs passives?

Tom from Gamechanger Audio here. Active pickups output higher volume signal compared to passive pickups. This will interact with the Plasma's natural noise gate threshold level. When playing with active pickups the Voltage knob needs to be rolled back bit more to get the aggressive gating effect that PLASMA is known for. The pedal is designed to work both with high and low output pickups and various instruments, it will of course respond differently to each. But by adjusting the Blend, Voltage and EQ settings you should be able to make it work for the pickups of your choice.
