In my opinion I'd expect it to work well for finish coats. Aggregate basecoats will have some dependence on the aggregate size. ...but with modified technique you should be ok.

Blades about 2 1/2-3”. This tool is awesome. Go to seejanedrill for free instructions on how to use. Corners get done easy.
