what is outlet gallon-per-hour flow rate?

Daniel:Gallon per hour flow rate is a measure of how much water goes through the filter every hour. You ideally want to circulater the water in your tank about 6-8 times per hour. So, if you have a 10G tank, you want a flow rate of about 60-80  GPH. The Finnex is advertised at about 95GPH.Unfortunately, most manufacturer's rating are hard to understand. Sometimes they are measured without any filter media, so the filter is just circulating water, but not filtering anything. Others measure their flow rates more realistically. So beware of relying on manufacturer's numbers.....The Finnex is suitable for 5-10G tanks. Some people say it will work for 20G tanks, but I think this will only work if the tank is lightly stocked.Hope this helps.Gautam Bose

Does this filter include long hoses so that it can be mounted under the tank (in the base of the tank)?   Or is it designed to "hang on the back of the tank only"?

I'm not sure why these people are giving bad information.  It may not work for THEIR setup (and it may not work for YOUR setup), but YES, the hoses ARE long enough to put the canister under SOME tanks.  AS LONG AS you have a shelf immediately under the tank, AND you do not have an especially tall aquarium, it will work.  I'm using it right now underneath my tank.  It just barely makes it, but it definitely makes it.  Measuring from the top of the tank (highest point) to the bottom of the shelf the canister sits on, I show approx 26".  So if this works with your setup, YES, you can put your canister under the shelf.  There is PLENTY of flow coming out of my spray bar... almost too much for my 6 gal tank.  I ended pointing the spray bar at the back wall 1" away to diffuse the flow.  Further, vinyl hoses are CHEAP.  If you wanted to extend them a bit, you definitely could.  I'm not sure how long you can extend them before the pump is no longer strong enough to lift the water and still provide adequate pressure, but I suspect you could get at least another 6" maybe even 12".

where can i get parts for this filter? i need the cap for the primer hole.

Take the pump to Lowe's are any hardware store... What you looking for is a plug that has a bolt in the middle of it.  If you ask the hardware store they will know what you want.
Just make sure you take the pump.

Question 4

Would the Finnex PX-360 be able to handle ~12" below the tank top and, in addition, host an in-line Hydor 200W heater and in-line DO!Aqua CO2 atomizer without lowering flow rate too much?

I just set my Finnex PX-360 up on a 10 gallon tank and I have the canister several feet below the tank. I'm not sure how much it effects the flow rate (it's definitely stronger when it's closer to the water level) but I still get very strong flow (in fact, maybe a little too much for bettas - the only way to change the flow is by raising and lowering the canister, I don't believe there's a pump speed controller.) I have an inline UV sterilizer and it doesn't seem to be detrimental to the flow rate.
