I love black wing pencils but they have to be sharpened often the extender is great .. The extender is the best idea ever now I add it to my pencils it even fits in my electric sharpener so happy I ordered it

I appreciate that Blackwing is offering an extender. The pencils are very expensive and they're almost unusable when they get sharpened down to about 2.5 inches. Thankfully, I have kept all these "nubs" because I can't bear to throw them out!However, this extender is just ok. It's a bit too heavy and it claims to have a snug fit, but I can't get it to slide all the way in and I find it moves around a bit. It's also a shame that it eliminates the eraser.It's a pretty good solution but imagining how much Blackwing must put into their R&D and the endless requests for an extender, I think they might need to go back to the drawing board.

It’s a metal hexagonal rod with paint on it and a rubber or silicone tip. The tip wiggles and is loose on the metal shaft. This translates to its intended use, and the pencil feels like it is hinged in the middle. Total garbage solution that was remedied 70 years ago by Lothar Faber’s invention of a pencil extender for Blackwing style ferrules which works.

This item does not perform as expected. After inserting the black wing pencil into the extender it is totally inefficient, slides around, and extremely awkward to write with. The pencil simply simply slides around inside the extender and there is no adequate point to grasp the pencil.

Blackwing pencils deserve to be used down to the last fragment. This extender extends the length & live of blackwing pencils.I only wish it had a provision for an eraser.

I LOVE my Blackwing pencil, and I love the idea of this extender. Unfortunately, I don't love the actual extender. It's TOO long, and the material it's made of is considerably heavier than the pencil. That means that when you attach this to a stubby pencil, the pencil becomes exceedingly "top-heavy," and it's difficult to write with because the balance is off. (It doesn't fit any better into my pencil sharpener with the extender, either, because the rectangular bit gets in the way regardless.)The extender also replaces the eraser, which is a minor detail and not insurmountable, but it would be handy if the extender's opposite end would hold the eraser so you don't lose it entirely.

As a pencil extender they work well. However, they are heavy and easily outweigh the small pencil so they are a little awkward to hold as I have to "work" to hold the pencil down. Too bad they aren't made of wood or lighter material.

As the title indicates, the item is useful for extending the longevity of Blackwing pencils. My only complaint is that I can’t use the pencil’s erasers and the extender at the same time. A better design is needed.

Wer seine teuren Blackwings bis zum Schluss nutzen will, der braucht eine passende Verlängerung, da herkömmliche wohl nur mit großem Aufwand genutzt werden könnten. Der Preis hierbei ist natürlich unverschämt. (-1 Stern)Was mich jedoch viel mehr stört ist, dass nicht an eine Halterung für das Radiergummi gedacht wurde. Man gewöhnt sich sehr an die Arbeit mit den Blackwings und dem angenehm flachen Radiergummi am Ende. Das fehlt dann schon sehr. Wirklich schade. Daher ein weiterer Stern Abzug.

Beautifully made but only of real use one your blackwing is really down to the last stub that can’t easily be held. I used it on a pencil that was about 2/3 used and it was too top heavy. Good to have though.

The extender performs the function and although very neat in concept, the weight throws the centre of balance way off, so less comfortable to use than anticipated. Shame.
