Q: Is this similar to thrive mascara?

Not at all. The Thrive mascara is a tubing formula, and this one is not. I found this one to be flaky and smudges a lot. It looks great upon first application but wears poorly in my experience. If you touch your eyes at all, this one ends up flaking on your cheeks and under your eyes.
