100 Oyster 100 Mushroom Plug Spawn Edible Mycelium Plugs

I bought these when I couldn't find any grain spawn locally. I had intended to experiment with various substrates so I added several plugs to a spent coffee bag, an aspen chip bag, and a styrofoam/garbage/coffee bag. The coffee bag was my first experiment, and even though it took a couple weeks longer than grain spawn, the coffee grains became completely inoculated. The coffee bag produced 3 flushes. My aspen chip bag and styrofoam bag are currently still in the dark chamber, but look healthy and almost all white.

Product was molded out of the mail. Would not grow. Waste of money

They spread mycelium fast! I can't wait for the fruiting stages! I used these to make straw and coffee ground spawn using cardboard and they worked within two weeks filling them up then I transplanted them into straw and grain.

I cannot speak to whether the spawn actually delivers oyster mushrooms: I'll have to update this review when I know, which might be as long as 18 months, as colonization of the logs I've inoculated can take as long as 12 months warm weather (it remains cold here for long periods)However, I had 2 questions for 2funguys. The website says use their query email. I've not received a response after a month. that's why this gets 3 stars.The spawn appear to be live as I had to store under refrigeration for some weeks. Spawn still obviously grew. So spawn seems to be live. good signStill, 3 stars: I purchased "wide oyster". the web site log chart only lists "oyster". I have no idea if my oyster dowels are the only ones or one of several. Hence my need to question whether the wood I've selected (aspen) is correct.Being technical, I use precisely the same term everywhere to eliminate confusion. the lack of care between product name and chart leaves room for doubt. I suggest 2funguysa) respond to support requestsb) use the same terms everywhereI went ahead and inoculated 2 fresh cut aspen logs. Hopefully in the future, I will enjoy mushrooms aplenty. TBD

Giving it a 4 because I won't know how well germination is for approx 6 months . The instructions were easy to follow . Drilled holes in logs . put plugs in holes. sealed with wax . Have the logs leaned up in shady spot and hope this spring I start seeing mushrooms.

I bought these for my 5 year old Grandson and I to grow. Papa cut a 6 " diameter oak tree for us, and we are going to drill the holes and plant these this weekend. We have grown the bags of mushrooms and were amazed at watching their development. This little guy loves to grow things, and I know mushrooms are a fun and educational project for him, and I love growing them too. We will post photos when we get some mushrooms growing. It sometimes takes a very long time, but patience is a virtue!

The plugs started mycilium very quick in coffee. No shrooms yet but lots to start with. Very happy.

I followed the instructions to the letter to include re-wedding the log that I used the plugs in and nothing grew. Very disappointing. I did not see anything I did wrong so I’m not sure why I did not get the results I was expecting.
