The Prague Guide (s) That Became My Go To For Everything!
While doing some last minute preparation for a Danube River Cruise where the land portion of the itinerary included several days in Prague, I decided to peruse Amazon one last time and by complete accident came across not one but three guides written by Krysti on this beautiful city - an overall guide to the city itself, a shopping guide and a dining guide. (I've since found out that she has authored other guides on Prague and I regret not taking a moment to "scroll down" on the Amazon page.) As the reviews were consistently positive with 4+ stars, I took a leap of faith and decided to purchase three of the guides the morning of the day I left - Prague Travel Tips, Prague Restaurant Guide and Prague Shopping Guide. It was probably the single best thing I ever did where any type of travel guides were and are concerned. While there are many good travel guides out there, what makes the three I purchased so unique is that they’re not only concise, practical and at times comical, but they’re written by someone who’s experience with Prague and the Czech people started on a business level working with and advising the Czech government when they were in the midst of privatizing many state-owned firms. As a result she spent a great deal of time in Prague working with the locals and going to many places "off the beaten path". Consequently, she has come to know Prague and its nuances more as a local vs. your typical travel writer. Her suggestions, especially where dining venues were concerned, were right on target. Without fail, if she indicates the food is good, the service friendly and in the case of one restaurant, the bread dumplings that accompany the goulash are the best in Prague, you can feel safe that you will be in for a great meal and the price she says you can expect to pay, you’ll pay. (And yes, the bread dumplings at this venue WERE the best without question!)I’d like to go on singing the praises of these guides and their author but if I did I suspect that this review would probably be as long as one of the guides! If you're fortunate enough to find yourself going to Prague, these guides are a MUST - they are without question the perfect companion(s) to this magical city.

Insider's Tip in how to navigate Prague
There are several well known travel guides about Prague and some of these authors write about different cities. In contrast, Kristi Brice writes like an insider about her adopted Prague. This gives the book a fresh voice that is easy to read and appreciate. The book is filled with useful information for tourists and includes Kristi's email. We reached out to her after reading this book and booked a personal tour with her. This book is outstanding as are Kristie's other books including the collection of self-guided walking tours.

Beyond Cliff Notes
Prague Travel Tips: is the 'Cliff Notes' on traveling in Prague, while feeling your holding hands with the guide. Actually, after reading and highlighting this book, my family and I did hire the author, Krysti Brice, to help us see the sites of her 'adopted city'. She lays the foundation of her knowledge of art history and architecture in the book but it merely touches on the breadth of her expertise. The ease with which one can read the book is also replicated in the comfort you feel when you are walking the city with her. For the confident and experienced independant traveler, this book will further enhance the nuances of the city for you, as well as remind you of the basics. It contains the 'must see' sites but the hidden treasures as well. I found the dining recommendations to be particularly useful and accurate. The book is somewhat of a tease as it never provides quite enough information, but isn't that what entices us to see for ourselves? That is the experience of being there, not just reading about it. However, I would like to see this author tackle the arguably more difficult challenge of armchair travel writing so that she can share her stories with the reader as we did with her over coffee and dessert (vetrnik) at the Cafe Savoy. After reading the 'tips' and touring with her, I can understand why Prague is now her adopted city.

Not the greatest guide
I grew up in Italy and have always been curious about the people and places that were hidden behind the Iron Curtain. Excited for my first trip to Prague, I read this book. I was at once intimidated into thinking I'd never find my way around and no one would speak English! I was wrong on both counts! The metro and tram systems are just as easy to use and decipher as those in any other European capital - and, I have yet to find anyone who doesn't speak English! The Czech people are delightful, friendly, and helpful. Don't let this book frighten you into believing you can't visit Prague on your own! You can!I'm also surprised by some of the omissions in this book, such as the Mucha Museum. Granted, no guide can include everything, but he is still loved throughout the world and many of his designs adorn buildings throughout the city.If you are a confident independent traveler, this is not the book for you. Instead, I recommend Duncan J.D. Smith's "Only in Prague." There is so much to love about this city!

A Must Buy if Going to Prague
This book is very informative and written in a friendly and relaxed style. We read the book and liked it so much we hired the author to take us on a tour of the Old City. Then, we spontaneously hired her again to take us the next day to the Jewish Quarter. Krysti’s book provides the reader with an easy way to familiarize themselves with an incredible city in a short time. Krysti’s tours in Prague were the highlight of our time there. She’s a friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic for her adopted city. You will be happy you read her book prior to arrival in Prague. Buy it!

useful and accurate tips
The tips on traditional Czech restaurants, crystal shopping, transport are very good and our short stay enjoyable. The writing was precise and easy to read. It'd have been a 5 if main sections/topics were indexed. A side note: one of the recommended restaurant Svejk was closed already when visited in May.
