Great little travel curling iron.
I was prepared not to like this travel curling iron, having read some of the reviews after I ordered it (always good to look at those first, right?). But surprise: I love it! Yes, it's very teeny (1" barrel is good), which is what you want when traveling, in fact, I'm a bit obsessed with saving space and weight with minis... but they also have to work well, otherwise, why bother? This does work well on my fine, shoulder length hair (I imagine if you have nice thick hair it might not work as well for you). It took a little bit of getting used to (like, don't try to stuff too much hair into one pass), but it's easy to use and works well. I don't expect to do a whole salon treatment with it, but to just touch up the frizzy parts and make it all a bit better: yes on that. Also, dual voltage, very lightweight, heats and cools quickly – important if you're packing up and taking off from your hotel, as you don't want to be tucking something so hot into your bag. No auto shut off, so be aware of that. It did not come with the promised travel bag, which is a bit disappointing, but I'll make it work.

Works perfectly for what it is!
If you pay attention to the size of the barrel, the general design, and the product description, most of the complaints for this item come down to people not reading the description more carefully. I've had this model since 2017 (it's now the end of 2022) and used it for frequent travel. I have a previous model I use as my daily iron (since I have very little bathroom storage area) and it's held up since 2014. Are there limits to it's awesomeness?* Yes, it's small. That's the point. If you have really thick hair, this probably isn't the product for you. It will take too long for you to section off all the many areas you'll need sectioned to get the right curl.*Yes, it only has one setting. That setting is HOT. So if you are keeping your hair on it for ages, you're doing it wrong. I've never burned my hair.*If you're used to grabbing the end point of an iron and doing a double-handed job of it, you'll just need to adjust to a 1-handed way to use it. It's clearly not designed to be held at the far end.But all of these issues are pretty evident in the picture, dimensions, and description. It's exactly what it says it is. It's not going to work for a lot of people because of that. I do have long hair, but I also have patience and the willingness to take the time necessary to use a small-capacity iron. If you want larger capacity to put more hair on the barrel? This isn't for you. Just one of those things!

You need to be patient with it, but if the tradeoff is an overweight bag costing you $100 ......
Extra weight here and there can take a suitcase over the top. Delta guy said, take out 3 lbs or it's $100 to check the bag. Beyond the bag fee. Larger dual current curlers are heavier, maybe 2 lbs. So the purchased of this seemed worthwhile. It is annoying small to use and if you overwrap it, the hair will slide out. You have to curl small bits of hair at once. For me this was double the wraps of my iron at home, and when getting ready for dinner it was annoying. But you can do it. It seems to have only a single heat level, so learn it so you can time the wrap time.

Good and not so ...
The small curing iron is great for travel, heats up well, but the opening for hair sections does not open very wide and therefore very little hair can be curled at one time. That makes the process longer, and possibly (?) heats the hair too much.

Do you want to relive the 80's?
I think Richard Simmons was probably a nice guy and great at motivating people to get moving. IF you'd like your hair to look like his, this curling iron is for you. Personally, I don't particularly care for my hair to have tiny, frizzy, and smoking curls but that's all I could manage to get from this curling iron. Maybe it's user error but my sister tried it, too. She has since stopped talking to me.To be fair, it heats up as expected and doesn't take up much space in your luggage. I don't think it would break easily. (It depends on how hard you throw it after it has cooked your hair) You've just got to be prepared for a new hairstyle and you may need some scrunchies and leg warmers to complete the look.

Little but gets the job done

Perfect & Can convert to a wand
The ON heat setting is not too hot and perfect for a curl. I have long but thin hair and was still able to wrap the full length at once but did have to do it in small sections. If time is important, I don't think this product is ideal for thick/full hair. It took me about 10mins to do my whole head but I could see it taking closer to 30 for someone with thick/full hair.I didn't find the clamp useful since its such a short barrel so I converted it into a wand by removing the clamp. You just need a small screwdriver to remove the 3 screws in the handle, open the case and unscrew the 2 small screws that hold the clamp to the button to remove it.The iron works so much better now!
