Yummy Licorice
Being Dutch I am used to very salty licorice, not at all similar to American Licorice. Most Americans will spit it out right away and I get a good laugh out of it. They expect something like the Red Vines licorice. So what to expect with this licorice??? It is salmiak licorice which is very salty. I LOVE this licorice it is so good and Haribo is a softer version of salmiak, so not as salty as most of the hardcore Dutch Salmiak, but still it is very different from American Licorice. I eat this all day long, it is so good.

Not the right stuff
Too soft and not strong enough. This is not what is sold in Danish stores.

Scrumptious
My Dad is from Denmark and he grew up with these. So any occasion I am able to get him these I do! The quality is just like home. My Dad loves their texture and size. He’s 100% addicted. If you’re not used to crazy salty licorice then this is not your licorice. But if that’s your thing then you are ordering the perfect candy for you!!

These are not normal Haribo Pirate licorice coins!
Was a bit surprised that the bag I got doesn’t look like the one shown, but is clearly legit, so so I opened them and popped one in my mouth … and spit it out. After a bit of German translating I discovered that the big skull and crossbones touting 7.99% of something was ammonium chloride, otherwise known as salamaic salt.My mess up because I was shopping based off the picture of the candy, not the description (never heard of salmaic licorice before). So unless you’re looking for the salty flavor of salmaic licorice, this isn’t what you want. They are apparently very good if that is what you’re into though.I gave the value for money / freshness a bit lower because the best used by date is less than 2 months away and candy goes slowly around our house (this one I’m sure slower than most).

It's real
Salty, chewy, addictive. Can't say it's an acquired taste either; either you like it or you don't.

Addictive
Real licorice, let alone salted licorice, is not very popular in the US, perhaps because we’re raised on flavorless, sugary “licorice whips” and similar candies, and we associate anise flavoring with medicines. I’ve always favored savory snacks over sweet, and I discovered that I had a taste for real licorice as a small child. Perhaps because it’s so uncommon here I had to try this- and I find it has a very addictive flavor. If anything, I think it’s not salty enough!
