I’m satisfied and will probably repeat the purchase in time.
My decision to buy these hiking shoes was based on rave reviews by experienced long distance trans-Pyrenees hikers.I ordered my exact size which is closest to 45 rather than one size larger as I would usually do with heavy leather hiking boots. I figured I would use thin hiking socks. At first fitting the Tx4 shoes felt ominously tight, however, after wearing them for several long hikes in the Italian Apennine range the shoes have stretched considerably and I have pulled the strong laces tighter. I can say without reservation that these shoes are very comfortable to walk in all day, day after day. I do not know how durable they would be for hiking through boulder fields, scree, or abrasive volcanic debris, but so far they do seem very strong. I’m satisfied and will probably repeat the purchase in time. One small pleasing design detail: there is a finger loop at the heel which is a great help when pulling the shoes on.

Last a very long time
I had a pair before that were used basically every day for over 2 years. The sole wore out but the leather and rubber part in the front did not. No tears at all. I love how they look on my feet and go well with any sort of trousers or shorts. They are not warm shoes for winter but im talking of very low temperatures like -20 as it was in Austria where I purchased my previous pair and the cost me 160€.About the selle from the IFL Store, they are amazing.I recommend these trainers to any person.I am 11UK and 45 EU but I had to get an 11.5UK or 46EU.

Much better than I thought!
In my backpack (just in case) I had my old seasoned shoes and those on my feet. I was hiking for hours with elements of scrambling In those new shoes and this was a first time when I’ve put on approach shoes straight from the box and I felt like there’s almost nothing on my feet. I do a lot of barefoot running, walking, etc for years so I’ve got strong, wide spread feet and most of shoes even expensive had to give to charity....but those are different! My feet are size 9 U.K. and got shoes 9,5 which fits great with thicker socks. I highly recommend it.

Brilliant shoe and grip but major flaw for me is on the ankle
I've got a pair of trail shoes (Raptors in 44.5 Euro so about 9.5 UK size) and some B2 boots from La Sportiva (Euro 44 size about UK 10). My trail shoes fit me perfectly and so do the boots. The TX4 on paper looked like the perfect match for some approach work / scrambles / low grade climbs. The fit of the shoe is slightly unusual as it has more of a climbing shoe look rather than simply a walking shoe. This is what an approach shoe should be.. both a walking shoe and a shoe to climb low grades in. For this the TX4 excels. But fit wise (as with any shoe) you will want to thoroughly test them inside on stairs etc before committing. I was between a 9 and 9.5 in the TX4s. The 9s were slightly tight on my forefoot (because they have a high leather content they will give over time but I have a slightly wide foot). So I got the 9.5s and these were a much better fit. However, after a short time wearing outdoors, what I found was that the TX4 rubs consistently just below my ankles. This part of the TX4 shoe (just under the ankles) don’t have much 'give'. For comparison, the Raptors are slightly more fabric based under the ankle and have more give so don’t rub under ankles. However the TX4s have more of an edge on the fabric around the ankles. Even with a second footbed in and thicker weight socks, the ankle rub proved too much for me. So that's an issue for others to think on - or for La Sportiva to make a slight change in that fabric? The shoe itself has a great 'rand' around and provides some excellent protection. I also found the grip on rock / wet rock / wet grass to be excellent. These will wear well for walk ins although obviously the incredibly grippy (slightly softer) sole may well wear down faster than a walking shoe. However these would allow you to scrambles easily and potentially climb v diff without problem. I can't fault the shoes otherwise. As they have leather uppers, they will give but the laces do give some opportunity for tightening. But just think carefully about shoe size and test the ankle rub. But may just be an issue for me! Other than this, if the shoe fits, it is exceptional for approach work. Sizing-wise I would try your normal size first and expect some five over time. Hope this all helps!

Look good
After doing some research on approach shoes I chose those, as they are wide enough and comfortable for longer hikes too. The size was a bit too small for hiking shoes, so I had to return and got 1/2 bigger. I haven’t tried them out yet.
