Winsome Wood Milan Bench, Antique Walnut

Wow! In a good way! I have gotten some crappy merchandise from Amazon. Not complaining as I usually go for the lowest price, so you get what you pay for.... But this was a great piece for a great price. Was shocked that it was actually made of mostly solid wood! Of course the sides and back are a little flimsy, but who cares, the supports and top are solid wood and it looks great (just like the picture). Some minor wood imperfections, but the company made sure those faces were hidden. Plus it was literally simple to put together. One phillips screwdriver for 2 screws and the other 8 screws use the included hex driver. There were also 4 small wooden dowels and 4 small metal push-in-holders. But overall it was one of the easiest pieces I've ever had to put together. It honestly took longer to get it out of the box because of the detailed packaging. So I paid around $150 with free shipping and it was certainly worth it! If I run into any isses I'll try to post an update, but after the initial inspection, I don't foresee any issues!

A beautiful, sturdy bench with classic details for our restored home. I had considered purchasing a cushion for it, but am glad I didn't. Really, for use in our foyer, it's not necessary. Maybe in a bedroom, you might want it to appear more comfy. This is a perfect size to fit in a hallway, because it isn't very deep (like a traditional hope chest, which would be deeper). My 12 year old son and I put it together easily, the allen wrench that came with it is tiny and annoying to use, however we did use it successfully. The shelf is adjustable, so you can put the baskets up top and leave the shelf on the bottom (which is what we did for kids shoe use). The baskets are smaller but will work for our family of 4's regularly used seasonal items (i.e., winter hats, scarves and gloves), so we are thrilled. Our rarely used items will have to be stored up in the closet, but this will help with the daily usage and excuses for why they can't put their hats away. :-)

This looks nice and was easy to put together. It's not high end furniture, so I don't know how long it's going to last, but it's a good value. My main complaint is that the baskets are really cheap. I cut some cardboard to line the bottom of the baskets so things don't get stuck in the broken wicker pieces, but my husband did get a splinter just pulling out a basket from the front. Also, the baskets are smaller than I expected them to be, but it's a low profile piece and the baskets do fit just right, so my expectation was just not in line with the actual space I'm working with.

I’d buy this again. As good as assemble yourself furniture gets. Real wood with a nice finish. Looks really good sitting in the corner by the door. My wife is happy.Sturdiness: The sticker on the back shows a weight limit of 200lbs. It’s as sturdy as any assemble yourself bench.Easy to assemble. My unit did have pre-installed dowels on the top that did not slide easily by hand into the holes on one of the sides. A light tap with a rubber mallet against a piece of scrap wood to spread the force of the blow and they slid in place. It took 15 minutes to put it together.The baskets are ok. They are wicker baskets - what do you expect from wicker basement?All in all this is a good value for the money.

I needed storage for craft projects and had a place under a low window to use. This bench has two options for placing shelves, fits nicely in a small space but is long enough that I could store many sizes of paper. The additional baskets I will probably use on top for small items. It would be a good choice in many different rooms for different uses. It is a bonus that it is also a sturdy bench. I put it together by myself in a little over an hour.

Having just purchased our first home, we were what you'd call, "house poor". We were looking for a bench for the front entry and had a hard time finding one we liked. We went to Ikea, purchasing something, but the thought of having particle board bench the first thing in our home forced me to take it back. Searched and searched for something that was made of real wood but not super expensive. We found this, it was the right size, looked good from the pictures, was made of wood, and was a decent price.Its only been a week, but we reallly like this piece. Its made of real wood, feels solid, and looks great. It came really well packaged and was assembled in less than 30 minutes. We would definitely buy this again and again.

I really love Winsome furniture. I've purchases a few things from them and you get high quality, good looking furniture at an affordable price. This item even exceeded my expectations in its attractiveness, as it looks like other benches you'd pay $400 for. The baskets are particularly nice and measure 9 1/2" x 10 1/2" on the inside, so as one reviewer mentioned they will not fit size 11+ shoes, but I don't mind we put my size 11 shoes on the shelf. One thing I didn't realize is that the shelf can be shifted from a low to high position, so you can have baskets low (like photo) or above the shelf, which is nice. Also easy to install. The only issue I had was that 2 of the screws stripped, and I wasn't evening tightening them that hard. Should this happen to you, there is plenty of room to reinforce it with additional screws from the inside that will be out of sight, and you'll be fine. Nevertheless I had to knock off a star. Buy it, you'll love this bench.

This bench is great! It's nice quality and was also designed in the USA. It was easy to put together, as I did it myself in about 30 or 45 minutes. It seems to be solid wood. The finish is a little bit redder than I had imagined, but it's still really nice. I have it at the end of a bed in my guest room. Its a perfect size for a suit case. The cubby on the top can be used for shoes. When assembling, you have the option to put the cubby on the bottom and the baskets on the top, which is also a nice feature.
