SheafferVFM - Refillable ballpoint pen, matte black finish, nickel plate trim

I have tried other brands, but have returned to Shaeffer, because of their superior reliability. This pen has a good strong colour for easy recognition. The shape and length is not the best for large hands. However as I shall only be using this pen for brief notes, I am prepared to comprise on that.The pen come with a medium black refill installed.The pen comes in a cardboard presentation box and would make a good gift.I have been using a blue version of this pen for several years and it performs as good as new.

Feels good in the hand, writes well (flatters my left handed writing!) and an excellent replacement for my lost pen

Bought as part of my daughter's birthday present - her son has just started using a fountain pen at school and she must have got Pen Envy as she wanted one too !. This is a nice pen to hold and use from the well known Sheaffer brand, and uses Universal rather than brand specific cartridges, so much easier to obtain and cheaper to buy. She loved it !

Used for college, I find this pen to be easy to grip and a pleasure to write with; Ink flow is smooth and reliable once the pen has been used for a while.The pen does tend to get through ink, though I do have a fairly intensive use case, with one universal cartridge lasting 2-3 days of note writing.The pen has also proved to be hardwaring, with me having dropped it in stones and it being left for 1-2 days;When retrieved, there were only small surface scratches.

It's a nice pen. A nice product in fact. I bought this for myself but it would make a lovely gift.However, as one other reviewer has pointed out, it doesn't fit the "standard" Sheaffer ink cartridges, instead it uses the "VFM" specification of cartridge. Both are available on Amazon. Just... However when I bought mine, the Amazon page showed that people had "purchased together" this pen and the WRONG ink cartridges. Naughty, naughty Amazon.I have loads of ink cartridges for my existing Sheaffer pen which don't fit this new one. I bought this one to use when travelling away from my desk, so this morning I've had to buy some new VFM ink cartridges. It's not the end of the world, they're cheap. But it would have been nice for this to have been specified somewhere. Perhaps it is and I've missed it. But for this issue I'd have given this pen 4 stars.

This pen offers excellent quality for the price. It comes well presented in a gift box with 2 ink cartridges in the bottom of the box. The pen has a weighty feel to it without being too heavy and writes beautifully. I didn't discover the ink cartridges in the bottom of the box immediately so inserted a WH Smith one which is a perfect fit. Can't recommend this pen enough for those wanting a low cost quality fountain pen.

This is a beautiful biro type pen. According to the review I was buying a fountain pen. Shan't bother to return it as it will make a useful last minute Christmas present. I must remember in future to make sure the reviews match the advertised goods I'm sure Amazon will agree if they don't match up with the goods, they are not much use at all. Because of the quality of the Biro I will award four stars.
