Q: What weight is this item ?

On our scales it weighs 948g including the plastic bag it comes in.

Q: How does one get into this bivvy bag? Is there a zip up the side or something? The image is not so good, cannot see. Or does one climb in at top?

You climb in the top, but there is also a half side zip. I got one and have been pretty happy with it, good for sleeping tent less in coolish dry mountains and also holds up pretty well on wet nights up Scottish mountains, albeit with a small tarp over your head. have not tried a gore tea bivvy bag, so cannot compare breath ability, but I have not found internal condensation to be a big problem with this bag.

Q: Would you have to use a sleeping bag inside the bivvy? Looking to extend my Multi day runs and thinking of how to minimise the load i'm carrying!

My recent experience testing this in an area exposed to strong, chilly wind, suggests that the bag alone is actually significantly warming and a very effective wind-break. Closed up fully with the extra rainproof window zipped in, it approached too hot and stuffy. If you were wearing warm clothing already and didn't mind feeling the chill overnight, it might not be terrible on its own. Certainly better than nothing. With a sleeping bag is still the preferred means of using it, though. You will need a base layer of something that insulates you from the cold ground (leaves, evergreen branches, bracken, etc). Get a down sleeping bag, they pack small and the bivvy will keep it from getting wet. You can carry an ultralight inflatable mattress too if you don't mind shelling out for it.

Q: Would this be suitable as a waterproof cover for the Highlander Challenger 400 sleeping bag?

There is enough room in this bivvy for me (185cm, 85kg), a roll mat, and any season sleeping bag. I can also fit a backpack at my feet.You will want to use the mesh face guard, and even with that sometimes you need to open it up to let some more fresh air in. Definitely way more comfortable with a small tarp over your face area. I've used this in downpours and had no problems with leaks or condensation.
