This cutter is better than I expected. It is replacing a plastic one I bought at the local drug store. The plastic one had a silicone V-shaped part that you placed the pill on, and the V shape was supposed to center the pill. It worked fine on the round pills I needed to cut, but when I got prescribed an oval pill made from a very hard substance, getting the pill centered and keeping it centered required lots of patience and determination, and it was difficult to cut the pill perfectly in half. The pill was so hard that the force needed to cut through it would make the plastic top half deform and wedge down over the outside edge of the lower half of the case, and I would have to pry the top and bottom apart to open it. With this metal-cased cutter, the inside is ingeniously shaped to form a double shallow wedge and has a spring loaded arm that holds the pill in place. It easily centers round and oval pills and the stainless steel blade cuts through the hard oval ones easily and quickly. The cuts are very precise and I can see where cutting pills into equal-sized halves, quarters, and thirds would be a breeze for this cutter. I like the magnetic closure too. It prevents the lid from just coming open like my plastic-cased cutter did when I turned it upside down. This new cutter is compact and comes with a snug-fitting leather case. I recommend it. It is pricier than most others, but I think it's worth it, and with its all-metal casing and durable construction it should outlast any plastic-cased cutter. It certainly out performs the plastic cutter I used to use.

First impressions matter, and I rate this little gadget high in that respect. The tin case it comes in is definitely tin, but not cheap; it has a semi elegant and understated look. The matte black paint is nicely accented by the light gold lettering. Opening the tin reveals a leather pouch containing the pill cutter. I say leather because that is what it smells and feels like. The pill cutter itself has a nice heft to it and feels well-made. There is a spring operated slide that pushes the pill into position so that the cut is centered; a very nice touch, and it works superbly. The blade is sharp and seems to be of thicker construction than most blades in cutters. The thickness is not so much seen as it is suspected by the way the blade feels. The blade is mounted solidly and has essentially zero deflection, a fact that translates into clean cuts. I decided to go all in and cut one of my thick pills which I normally reserve for my heavy duty cutter. The cut was straight and took very little effort. I know that someday the blade will dull to the point that I have to buy another cutter, but in the meantime this is the boss! I can recommend this heartily.

I needed a pill cutter, and this one fits the bill. It's very sharp, so cutting pills is no problem. I like that it closes to protect the blade, preventing accidental cuts when not in use. The leather case and tin case that it fits into are nice touches for storage.One thing to note is that the blade is extremely sharp, so you can easily cut yourself if you're not careful. Also, it doesn't work well for large pills as they don’t fit, though that's typical for most pill cutters. My only qualm is that the blade isn't covered or protected when in use, and it can't be replaced if it dulls over time.Overall, I give it 4 stars due to the sharpness risk and lack of replaceable blades, but it works well for medium and small pills.

Works better than any other pill cutter I've ever used. Cuts the pill cleaner and is much faster.

I love this pill divider I have use many different ones. This is the best one I have ever had. I highly recommend.

I hesitated when came to buying this particular pill cutter.I had one, a fairly cheap one that I got from the VA. And cleanly cutting a pill in HALF was sometimes an issue. So I bought one her on Amazon that was better than my first one. And cost about half of what this one costs.But I had similar issues with getting a pill cut exactly in half, and not getting crumbling.So, I returned that one and decided to take a chance on this one. Hoping it would end the fumbling around, and get the pills cut in half for a change.This cutter is a very sturdy device. The case is a solid piece of aluminum that's been machined intothe case that does the work. And it has a very solid feel to it. It comes contained in a small stamped metal can. With the cutter itself in a leather holder.This thing has worked beautifully for me. I happen to be cutting oval pills and spring loaded holder self-centers my oval pills. The blade is very effective. It's held firmly by the metal case. And makes clean cuts, right where I need it.I guess I would sum it up with: "You Get What You Pay For"I expect to get a long service life from this device. And I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We have small tablets for my dog that he needs only one quarter of a day. I have cut myself twice with this cutter as there is no shield to protect you from the blade.

If you’re looking for a pill cutter that actually cuts. Though it may not cut it perfectly, but it’s a lot better than generic ones I’ve seen a local drug stores.
