I really like Afmat products, so I was curious about this. I loved my tall, rechargeable model, before an idiot knocked it off it's perch. This one is more quiet than I expected. I was hoping it would be able to accommodate the Lyra Color Giants Skin Tone pencils. Alas, it cannot. The suctioning feet really stick. They're so tiny I was worried they'd break, before they released. Fortunately, all were fine. The shavings bin is generous. For those using this for colored pencils, the company doesn't recommend using this model with soft pencils, such as Prismacolor Premier, and some other types of art pencils. I tend to agree. This sharpens better quality, "regular" pencils like a champ, though. Of course, all automatic sharpeners are not a good match for off-center pencil cores (a problem with many pencil brands). I decided against trying a Prismacolor Premier be so many of my set are off-center. I wish the cord was a little longer, because my work area is a small room, with few power outlets. Overall, a good purchase.

As an artist I have many different kinds of things that need sharpening. With the variable thickness adjustment of this sharpener, any size can be easily accommodated. It makes my life simpler not having to hunt for the properly sized sharpener when I need to use a different size pencil

I've been working with color pencils a lot lately, and needed an electric sharpener that could handle the job. This sharpener is touted as suitable for classroom use and I think it is for the most part. On regular pencils it made a good point and did the same with the color pencils for a while. I had it for about three weeks before it started to stop when I put the color pencils in. It would sharpen for a second and quit - not in way that said the pencil was finished, but more in a way that said, "I don't want to sharpen this anymore." So I went back to Amazon and bought a different - one I've actually used before. It cost a bit more, but it has worked consistently so far. I will keep this one as a back up sharpener.And this may sound a little petty, but I didn't like that the sharpening hole was at the bottom of the dial rather than the top. It felt awkward.

First off, the black version of this item does not come with the words "Fast Sharp Auto Stop" printed on the side, like it shows in the product picture. They should fix that picture! I tried a dozen previously sharpened but dull pencils. It sharpened all of them well. It took about 3 seconds to sharpen a previously sharpened pencil with a broken tip to full sharpness. So even though it feels "slow" compared to a Panasonic sharpener I lost (and this replaces), it isn't a significant difference. AND I found that this "medium" duration of sharpening allowed you to rotate the pencil to better align the point on the central axis of the pencil. This is a significant "hidden" feature, at least to me. The suction feet hold on to my countertop strongly. It does auto-stop. It will not sharpen a pencil without the plastic shavings bin installed. Why not five stars? It feels inexpensive and the auto-stop feature takes a little too long on some pencils.

Sharpens pencils so quickly. The dial is great. Suction cups on the bottom have a strong hold.

As an art teacher, I’ve been through many brands of pencil sharpeners. At the beginning of the year I bought a more well-known brand that I had relied on for many years, but two months after using it it wasn’t working well so I decided to try this lesser-known brand. Let me say that THIS IS THE BEST PENCIL SHARPENER I’VE EVER USED. It’s great for regular pencils and colored pencils. Worth every penny! I’ve been an teacher art for 24 years. I know.

This is my 2nd Electric sharpener. Much sturdier than my first, yet gentle on pricey wax-based colored pencils.

Best sharpener I’ve purchased. I returned the last two I purchased because they didn’t work. Get this one! It has different pencil types which is so great.

For the price, this sharpener should work each and every time a pencil is put in to be sharpened. Unfortunately, this is not the case! And now the Seller is no longer with Amazon so you can't reach them!. So I've requested an A-Z review from Amazon to see if there is anything that can be done to either replace the sharpener or to get a refund. As this may take up to 10 days for a reply, I will wait as I just complained on May 19, 2023. I read the reviews as well and there are a lot of people who have run into the same issue that I have! Hmmm, Amazon, you need to be on top of this!!
