Functional and inexpensive but requires careful attention to obtain proper operation.
I found that this heater can burn clean but only after carefully seating the movable chimney and allowing it to heat to operating temperature. When it is right the mesh dome on top of the chimney glows cherry red. Both of the times I’ve used this I started it outdoors so as not to get the eye-stinging smoke and fumes in the enclosed space I’m trying to heat. Even fully heated and dialed in there is some odor which is to be expected with any kerosene heater.I discovered that this heater is not very tolerant of wind. If you’re planning to use this outdoors you should consider a wind break of some kind.My heater arrived well packed with all advertised accessories included. It was even the color that I ordered. I did not find any shipping damage though I did note styrofoam beads stuck in the mesh dome that I made sure to clean out before firing. I’ve filled the tank to the halfway mark and have not seen any hint of leaking fuel.I bought this as an experiment for emergency heat and for camping. I like the idea of being able to use one appliance for both space heat and for cooking.

Arrived banged up, but works great
Straight away, if I'd bought this from a store, I'd have taken it right back for a replacement. This thing was absolutely handled wrong after it left the factory. Fortunately the metal is thin enough to bend back into shape by hand, although the chipped paint is pretty disappointing. But I needed something to produce heat, not something that looks good, so I just patched it up by hand, filled it, and lit it.I can't fault the seller or manufacturer, since I have no idea at what point someone thought it was a good idea to chuck this thing out of an airplane at the edge of space to see if it survives the impact. Because the heater itself is actually good once it's going. And I guess the fact that it can take a pounding and still work is a compliment itself. It puts out a nice amount of heat, and was enough to warm a 2-bedroom flat during this last cold snap. There's a couple seconds of soot as you light it, then it burns very clean. No odor at all when you get it dialed in just right, so you don't need to splurge on scent additives or anything. The surface perfectly fits a kettle, so you can keep a pot of soup on, keep a kettle on for tea, or just simmer water to add humidity to the air.Very nice little heater, simple to disassemble and replace the wick too. It includes instructions but you can just start unscrewing stuff and figure it out as you go. The parts only fit together one way so if you somehow manage to screw it up, that's 100% something you should feel embarrassed about. Unless yours arrives damaged to the point that it resembles a crumpled napkin, obviously.

Good product, be prepared to tighten every single screw before use
Right out of the box, I noticed how cheap the construction was, I own several of these, all at different sizes, and had to take almost the whole thing apart and tighten every screw on the unit. Once it was all back together, I checked it over and then added kerosene to the tank. Remember to not fill past the full mark, for it will cause lots of sooting issues when fired up. I waited a full 2 hours before lighting it up. Once lit, I found the sweet spot where the globe was lit evenly all the way around, and marked the dial with a black marker pen. When I light it now, I go past the mark I made until initial warm up time is met (approx 5-10 mins) and then dial it down to the mark, and it works nicely every time. I'm on my 3rd full tank of use, and have had zero issues with the unit. Side note: it would be wise to also use a kerosene additive to help reduce sooting, and to condition the wick for years of use. Worth the money, be prepared to perform periodic maintenance, as with all flame heaters, it will need it.

Not really for indoor use. Smokes and stinks a lot.
I followed all the directions and have used kerosene heaters before but this one takes a long time to get to operating temp and smokes and stinks up the place and puts out a lot of CO and CO2. I started it outside and let it get up to temp and burning efficiently and then brought it in while they were replacing my heater and it set off the alarms in less than 5 minutes.I used it in my garage during a cold day and it burned for about 3 hours per tank. I will just use it in the garage from now on and only in extreme conditions since kerosene is 5+ bucks a gallon now.
