My son discovered that he can open the lid of our stainless steel trashcan and drop things inside when my back is turned. After several occasions of this, we decided to try these. The lock works great. It is actually really easy to reach which was the concern my husband and I had ahead of time. Most importantly, it has kept our son out of the trashcan. The adhesive so far has been really strong and it does not have to be locked all the time, so that is nice.

I do not have kids but really smart cats that know how to open drawers and cabinets. They are super easy to install too. Definitely cat proof!

These things hold up very well , once I learned how to open them. They work great.
