Safety 1st Light Up Tongue Depressor, Illuminates Mouth and Throat to Check for Signs of Irritation, Clear

As a speech-language pathologist, I love this product both for evaluating my clients and also for stimulating velar sounds. Since it lights up, it's more fun for children and they don't mind me looking in their mouth as much, in fact they request the 'tongue thing.'

This could not have come at a more important time in my life: HAND FOOT AND MOUTH HAS ENTERED THE CHAT! Ah!! My little girl went from Sunday to Thursday with hand foot and mouth and I didn't know it. I couldn't figure out what was wrong and I couldn't see in her mouth good enough to see that she had it. Her pediatrician looked Thursday and was like, oh yeah, in the clear back of her mouth- see? I was like no, I don't see! So in comes this little tool. Arrived on Friday and by Saturday I was better at checking her mouth than the pediatrician! No lie. THIS THING IS BRIGHT!!! I love that the tongue depressor is clear too! You can attach your smartphone to it; I tried that and it wasn't for me, but I didn't need it. I was checking to see how her little mouth was and it was healing up just fine- like EVERY SINGLE PARENT NEEDS THIS THING! This is something we should be buying parents at their baby showers. Legit. It's the bomb.

The media could not be loaded. This is an amazing product! The light quality is so bright and clear and the pieces are easy to clean. This includes a mesh bag to store the product, batteries are inside the product and there are 2 heads included (tongue depressor and external ear cleaner). The product attaches to your phone but the opening is not very thick so I needed to remove my phone case to fit it onto my phone. This feature would be awesome for telehealth visits. The product fit safely for my 5 year old, 7 year old and my husband. With all of the sickness the kids had in daycare and looking into their throats with a typical flashlight for years, I wish I had this years ago! It is easy to store in its little bag and I may start recommending my friends to add it to their baby shower registry.

I couldn't turn it off which would have ruined the battery so I returned it.

Love this set. Light has a good amount of lumens which makes seeing in ear nose and throat easy. Great handy tool to help catch/diagnose things earlier.

I like that this product provides a clear view of the mouth and throat. The photos are useful for consultations with doctors as well as keeping track of potential issues. I like that the product has versatile uses. Overall, I think this is a great tool to have on hand.

If something like strep is going around, it's important to detect it as early as possible so that it can be treated while it is still manageable. This tool is a huge help in checking mouth, throats, and ears of any ages. It's easy to remove the clear attachments for cleaning and sanitization, they simply twist on and off.The light is fairly bright and does a good job illuminating the mouth plus some of the throat. Additional lighting may still be needed to see tonsils and below.There are some areas where I feel this tool could be improved. First, it comes with a mesh bag that does not protect the tool from dust or germs. A case that seals better would have been a big help for storing this tool and keeping it clean. Secondly, the choice of uncommon CR2023 batteries is odd for a medical device. Standard AA or AAA batteries which are readily available everywhere would have been a more logical choice. If the batteries are dead and the device is needed, finding replacements quickly may be an issue.
