Great little knife sharpener
This is one awesome knife sharpener. It is pretty small (pocket sized), but it definitely works to sharpen knives. Just a few passes through the course and fine side and pocket knives are good as new.Pros - Compact; Size and weight make it ideal for packing into a backpack or just carry around in your pocket. - Cheap (in price only) - Looks to be a high quality product that is well built and should last a long time - Great for sharpening pocket knives and multi-tool knives.Cons - A possible con might be its small size if you are looking for ways to sharpen larger kitchen or hunting knives. Not sure I would attempt to use this since it is so small and might be dangerous to try and run larger knives through it. The holding portion of this sharpener only fits between the thumb and index finger. It could probably still do the job though.

An inexperienced user who found this easy to use and effective.
For an inexperienced, casual cook, such as myself, this sharpener seems to be a good product. The sharpener is easy to use and effective.I bought this to sharpen my kitchen knives that had dulled with use. I'm not very serious cook, so most of my knives stainless steel for convenience, although a few are carbon steel. This sharpener worked easily on both the stainless steel knives and the carbon steel blades. A few strokes on the blade with the coarse side, then a few strokes with the fine side, and the knife blade was sharp again.I don't know enough to know if the level of sharpeming I can get get with this would satisfy a maste chef, but I find it to be a big improvement.

Great for just common everyday sharpening
I have actual whetstone's to use when a quality knife needs a fine sharpening. But this is what I use on an everyday basis just around the house. I actually keep it in the kitchen and use it to do a quick sharpening on my paring knife and smaller cutting knives. I've also used it on a knife that I take camping, but I also sharpen that on a whetstone if needed. If you're looking for something quick simple and cheap that does the basic job, this is the thing.

The perfect pocket sharpener
I actually bought two of these. One for me and one for my mom.I like to keep my kitchen knives sharp, really sharp. My wife loves the fact that I'm so particular about keeping a sharp edge on all of our knives. The thing is, I don't like using my multi-staged, electric sharpener on my knives more than two or three times a year. The electric sharpener takes too much metal off the blade. So, for a quick tune-up every five or six uses, I use the Accusharp two step. A couple of back-to-front pulls through the course stones followed by a couple of front-to-back pulls across the fine stones and your blade is razor sharp. It could not be easier to use. This replaced and old hand-held V-stone sharpener that I had for 15 years. I like the Accusharp even better. It's padded grips and better quality stones make it the best I've ever used.

Meh....
Quick and convenient if you don't know how to sharpen a knife, but you can't get near the edge with them you can with a few more minutes on a stone. They don't go in my pack any more after just one outing with very poor results.

If you have a very dull knife then you need more than this
If you have a very dull knife then you need more than this. Its just OK for keeping a good edge. But not for true sharpening work.

Handy and sweet for short-blade pocket knives
I bought this because I know it is easy to handle, the blue of the "X" stands out in the junk drawer so it is easy to find, and it gives plenty or space to sharpen even the shortest of blades. I use it to sharpen Boy Scout knives of all the scouts before they whittle. Because it does such a great job, the young men have learned to appreciate a sharp blade and how to maintain their knives so they will last a long time. Each scout I used to be Scout Master over got one of these when they crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.I also have used this on the kitchen knives, hatchets and my lawn mover. It has not worn out yet, but I am going to buy more for myself in case they stop making these.

(Fast) quadratisch, praktisch, gut!

Excellent.
This product from Accusharp is excellent.I bought it to sharpen and maintain a very heavy and expensive hunting knife that I struggled to keep sharp with a traditional oil stone. The product arrived in under half the estimated delivery time, free postage and at a cost of only £6-7.00 it is dirt cheap. Phenomenal value for money. My only two criticisms are, firstly, that I cut myself the first time I used it, but admittedly that was because I didn't hold the device properly and to be honest I got carried away with it as the results were so amazingly rapid! So follow the instructions and take it slowly, I would imagine that anything over a 6" blade would be difficult to sharpen with this device due to its size and the grip you hold whilst in operation. (My own fault). The other is that it does require a strong grip, which is fine for me (biggish 30 year old outdoors-man) but perhaps too physical for a little old lady with arthritis.I also used it on some kitchen knives and the results were, again, excellent.Such a clever idea and I would recommend to anyone, but use it carefully to prevent any accidents. Those of you who prefer oil stones should really check this out - it will leave you with plenty of time to do other things aside from the drudgery of knife sharpening.
