Was nervous about ordering this based on the reviews but so glad I took a leap of faith! It seems to be a luck of the draw, and mine fortunately did not come with any scratches. Package is extremely heavy so make you have assistance if you need to go up stairs. This took me about an hour to assemble – some screws were missing but made it work with what was provided. Stoppers on the draws would be nice but that's my only qualm. The quality of the wood is definitely really good for the price and overall is exactly what I wanted and fits my space perfectly. Would recommend!

1. Part J (three screws) was not in the package2. Part H contained 10 pieces instead of the 8 that the documentation showed, but still 1 short to make up for the missing J screws3. The diagrams in the instructions show screws going in the wrong direction. It is almost always the opposite. If the diagram shows screws going in from the bottom, in reality they could only go in sideways - and vice versa.4. In Step 4, the hook on each side cannot go in as the last step. It must go in as step 1 otherwise there is hole to push the screws through. They will NOT go through once the legs are on.5. Surfaces were scratched, had badly applied lacquer paint on the bottom shelves as if a spill occurred on the surface.6. Left drawer and drawer cover were separated about .25" inch due to damage during shipping (the drawers come assembled and installed into their position) where the finish nails holding them together were exposed and shifted sideways. I had to completely remove it and re-nail it.7. The drawers have no stoppers and are not deep - only about 60% of the desk surface width. If you pull the drawer out without knowing or being careful, it will pull all the way out and drop to the ground.8. Most of the screws on the bottom shelves are exposed and visible - not something you can see in the pictures they provide.

Positives:The wood looks nice and the finish seems good.It went together just fine.Negatives.The left hand outside drawer rail was improperly installed such that I had to carve on the rail in order to get the mounting bolt in the hole. The improperly hung rail causes the left hand drawer to be uneven with a greater gap at the top of the drawer on the left than there is on the right. The uneven gap is definitely visible and makes the desk look cheap.Also, the supplied parts are different than what the assembly instructions said were provided. It wasn’t hard to figure out, but since the instructions are a single 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, you’d think they could match.An additional problem with the instructions is associated with the last assembly step, step 4. Step 4 involves mounting a pair of wooden pegs on the sides, presumably for hanging headphones or cables. Unfortunately, step 1 covers up the mounting holes required for step 4. This means that in order to accomplish step 4, it is necessary to completely disassemble the desk and do Step 4 before anything else.Finally, one of the provided bolts was incorrect and couldn’t be used where needed. I’ll need to go to the hardware store and get something that will work.Since the desk is fairly heavy and hard to move, I’m not returning it, and I’ll fix it myself, but given that this is a relatively simple piece of furniture, the fact that there were multiple quality control issues is distressing.Aside from the drawer, it looks fairly good, and seems sturdy, but the fact that I have to remove and replace a drawer rail, find a fastener, and the instructions don’t fully match up causes me to only give this 3 stars.

The color is beautiful and there is PLENTY of space for two people to work at this desk, with laptops and all.The drawers are shallow but hold a good amount of office supplies. There is no stopper on the drawers so they must be opened carefully (we added stoppers).There was a pretty significant amount of scratches on the leg pieces, which was not too bothersome.However, there was one large ding along the edge of the desk, which is unsightly. Thankfully it can be sanded down one day.One drawer arrived with its front plate popped off. This required some maneuvering to get it aligned with the other two drawers.All and all, I would not recommend purchasing this if you aren’t handy and don’t have access to tools and materials at home.
