I prefer using Castrol to any other brand.I have this one litre bottle on standby for top ups.Long life oil tends to look clean for up to 2 years in my vehicle and still maintains its properties.When I first started using 0w 30 I was concerned that it would be a very thin oil but over the years my confidence has grown and it has proven to be great for winter starting and still gives great protection for my engines.

I always use this oil in the engine of our 180k mile 2002 BMW 316ti Compact (E46). The oil fully meets BMW’s specification for the N42 B18 engine fitted to this car. This engine uses an advanced Vanos variable camshaft technology and requires careful and precise maintenance. Part of the maintenance regime to keep this car running well is to only use an engine oil that meets BMW recommendations and is changed at no more than every 10000 miles or 12 months. Using a non-recommended oil with this engine is the biggest cause of premature wear and unreliable running.
