Four spectacular episodes in which the Top Gear boys travel to the four corners of the earth to tackle their toughest challenges to date, featuring extreme cold, extreme rain, extreme dust and some extremely angry locals with guns. Polar Special The Director’s Cut Clarkson and May, in a seriously modified Toyota, take on Hammond and his dog sled in a 450 mile race to the North Pole as they drive over thin ice to face in-tent hostilities, polar bear fear and desperate food fantasies. US Special The ultimate American road trip finds the guys driving $1000 wrecks over 700 stifling miles to New Orleans. In a Chevy, a Caddy and a Pick-up, their challenges include preparing a road kill ‘feast’ and baiting the rednecks of Alabama without getting shot. Vietnam Special Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May travel to Vietnam and are told to travel the entire length of the country in just eight days, thereby achieving what the American military failed to do in ten years. DVD Extras • Commentaries with Executive Producer Andy Wilman and crew • Deleted Scenes • Behind-the-scenes Photo Gallery Botswana Special The Director’s Cut Jeremy, Richard and James end up in Botswana where, armed with just three cheap, two wheel drive cars (and a massive film crew), they set out to cross the heart of Africa. Just brilliant!
Being a UK ex-pat in NZ, I was miffed to find that the Top Gear Great Adventures set in NZ cost NZ$130 (about £50+). I could not find a major difference in content so I got it through Amazon...delivery in just over a week and also compatible in NZ DVD players as well as UK, I was certainly impressed! But without doubt the most impressive aspect was the content itself. Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow were just brilliant and everyone in the family (including the young kids) enjoyed all the episodes. Watching the TG team get chased out of Alabama was classic, as was James May practicing his death face expression if he fell through the Arctic ice! Eventhough I thought the special features could be greatly improved, I feel I got great value for money and will be after the TG Bolivia special when I next get the opportunity to acquire it!

more extra's
I honestly expected more extra's on the dvd's ('making of', commentaries bij Jezza, Hamster & cpt Slow...) and I 'm not happy with the fact that they even deleted some (short, but usefull) scenes, like the purchase of some items - like the bbq on Hamsters Dodge- in the USA-special.

Top Gear Great Adventures - great viewing
As an avid viewer of Top Gear I could not resist buying this boxed set. I had already seen these adventures on the television but thought them worthy of buying as a boxed set.I find their adventures extremely funny but also very informative as you see the way the normal people of these countries live.My all time lasting memory is the final clip of the Vietnam adventure - looking for the bar.Who knew that such a beautiful place existed in Vietnam.Keep the adventures coming Top Gear - marvelous viewing.

i love these dvd's. i havnt stopped watching them since i got it. Every top gear fan should have this aswell as the challenges series. can't wait til they make more and bring another boxset out.good having commentaries but only on two of them. also they changed the music so they are not as good as the tv versions but you do get loads extended scenes which are funny. 9/10

love it
I have always liked Clarkson and James May and Richard Hammond just makes me laugh. This DVD is great, top gear is great and the challenges are my favourite part of the programmes. If you watch top gear then you don't need to be told by me how entertaining it is. If you don't watch it, what have you been doing with yourself? Crack on and get this dvd.

US Special great adventure (the Florida fly-drive one)
As an avid Top Gear fan, my husband was pretty devastated when the sky box deleted all the top gear specials. For his birthday I bought them all for him. No complaints about the quality of the service, or the condition of the items etc. This feedback is aimed at whoever edited this particular show.1. The music is naff (no highlights, no country, no pace, just a dull background noise that adds nothing to the antics)2. It is only 52 minutes long, meaning that massive chunks are missing (for example, when they buy their gifts for their cars/selves - the air-conditioning unit, the clothes rack & the BBQ - no mention of them at all. They just seem to arrive in one shot, and are gone in another)3. The show has been cut/edited in such a way that it just is not funny, and actually is pretty illogical.Whoever did the editing ought to be ashamed of themselves, ruining a fantastic show! This DVD is a massive disappointment!Save your cash and record it off Dave!
