The Pelikan Souveran M805 is a large, luxurious pen. For those not familiar with the brand, Pelikan nibs run a little larger than average, so their fine nib will be broader than other European fine nibs.Pelikan Souverans are among the finest fountain pens in the world, considered on par with Montblanc. The nib is easily the smoothest nib I have ever used. The piston fill mechanism is fantastic, giving the pen a huge ink capacity.This pen is a joy to write with, and will quickly become your favorite pen.I was suspicious because of the price point, but this is a genuine Pelikan. Both the resin and the nib check out. Piston pens are much harder to counterfeit than cartridge pens, and are considered a safer purchase.I should note mine did not come in the original box, and did not have the green ink window pictured in the listing. That wasn’t a big deal to me at this price. It’s possible it was a display model but that’s just speculation. It was in immaculate condition and gave no appearance of being used.

As other reviewers have noted, it comes in a small cardboard box mailed in an envelope. The box was mashed up but the pen was perfect.Comparing it to my other Pelikan pens, it appears to be genuine so overall a great pen at a fantastic price.

GENUINE ITEM! AMAZING PRICE, for what I consider the most consistently high quality fountain pen for the money. Pelikan, LAMY and Pilot provide amazing fountain pens for the money, but this pen is an extraordinary combination of beauty, nib quality, ink capacity, and prestige. From the Pelikan and chick on the finial to the feel in the hand, I RATE MY PELIKANS AS MY BEST PENS.

This is a nice pen. I like its size (on the larger side). Mine came from England, wrapped in a cheap crappy box you get from a $2 pen. Perhaps, that is the reason for its lower cost compared to much higher US prices.I paid $287 for mine, which is roughly $200 more than other my favorite pen. I don't see or feel the difference in the higher cost (i.e., it is not $200 better). I'd recommend other pens at roughly $100 with similar or better performance.I am not an expert, just a fountain pen enthusiast with 10 pens in my collection. So far, I've returned 3 of the most advertised/talked about pens by expert. I recommend you to follow your own judgment.

Got the pen at a great price. Just like some others have mentioned, it doesn't come in a big box with the white leatherette pouch; it arrives inside a plastic box in a tiny box which fits the pen just right. The gray stripes match quite well with the black of the rest of the pen and the silver trims. It looks quite classy. I'm giving it three stars because mine arrived with the piston knob badly fitted, as if it had been screwed in a hurry and not checked before packaging. There is no way to unscrew it and screw it back properly without a twsbi wrench, which I had to buy for that sole purpose. If you have no problem buying said tool or you already have one, I by all means recommend it.
