These bookends are made of fairly sturdy metal, and coated to a matte finish. They are well made.In most cases, their effectiveness depends on the weight of the books you use to weigh down the foot of the “L” shape, but they do have a hole so that you can screw them down if you want to.They are plain and simple, but good quality, so would work well in either a home or office setting.

Other reviewers have criticized there for being too flimsy, which is a point. If you have a long line of heavy books not quite sitting upright, then the bookend will bend.Good for the price I paid.

Way too bendy. I've ended up glueing two back to back to make them stiff enough.
