Brilliant all round, makes desoldering components so much easier.
I wish I had got one of these tweezer style soldering irons years ago, it is unbelievably useful for desoldering and swapping out surface mount components.General build quality is great, and the controls are all logical and straightforward. I like that it automatically drops the running temp to 200 deg C when I put the iron back in it's holster, as I think this will improve tip lifespan. It heats back up really quickly when in use, quicker than any soldering iron I've had before. The only thing I think could be improved is that the spring on the tweezer part has quite a lot of tension, but the hinge also has a bit if friction, so it makes gripping and releasing small components a bit jumpy. This may be down to me just building some new muscle memory, but I feel like a lighter spring and smoother action would make it easier to use delicately and improve it's / my accuracy in placing parts.Overall I think it's absolutely brilliant, all the controls I need, good quality parts, and a well thought out design.

Not what I thought
Got this because I thought it was basically a soldering iron. It's not. I've been trying to make a peltier cooler with a hobby board kit. It's pretty much sorted but this hasn't been much use in soldering the elements. I don't know if it's just that I don't know how to use it properly, or if it lacks some functionality. All I know is that it would be an expensive mistake if I'd bought this without knowing exactly what it is!

Great little work station
PACKAGING: Plain brown cardboard box with marketing information printed on all sides.PRODUCT: Soldering stationFUNCTION: This came very well packaged, with the device nestled within foam cushions. The instructions come on a large glossy sheet, printed front and back. There are diagrams with all the parts are labelled. The print is small, but the content is still legible. However, the online advert has two very useful videos for set up and use. This was actually invaluable because it is a bit daunting when you open the box and see what's inside. All the parts are individually wrapped. You get three sets of tweezer tips, the tweezer hand piece, a cable guide, a soldering dispenser (with 0.5mm lead free solder wire), a small thin blue sponge (loose in the box so do not miss it and throw it out) and a power cable with a 3 PIN plug. Plus, already installed within the device is a brass wool tip cleaner and a hexagonal tool. The actual device is compact and light weight. It has an LCD screen that tilts forwards to prevent glare and it has a plastic cover for protection in transit. The whole thing is easy to assemble but what takes a bit of time is configuring the device on first use. He heats up really quickly and is easy to use, even for a novice like me. It is so compact it takes up very little room on the work bench, plus it has on-board storage, so nothing will be lost.At the time of this review the soldering station was £299.99. This is a great little device that packs a real punch. I do not really know anything about the needs of the soldering expert, but for a novice like me, the device has everything I need and so I would recommend.

Unusual concept, but works well.
Having bought the very similar 982D, the main unit and functionally is identical to this, so this review will just be amended for the hot tweezer aspect of this 992DI.To put comtext to this review, I have to admit that I'm no professional so I'll be sticking to the basics.Priced at £299.99 at the time of ordering, this isn't cheap, so is it worth it?PROS:The solder station feels weighty and everything seems to be great quality. The temperature range from 90 to 450 degrees makes it very adaptable to various jobs. The set includes the tweezer irons, these are well built and importantly seem strong. It's an unusual concept, but if you're trying to remove a capacitor, it's really helpful and saves time. The screen is clear and easy to read with all of the required information including power consumption to indicate that the iron is heating. It's quick, and I mean QUICK to heat up, and importantly, it also cools quickly too.CONS:The temperature selection is great, having the preset temperatures really helps, but it annoyed me that every time I put the iron in its holster, it defaulted to 200 degree's. It's only a small issue, but it was irritating. The price, at £299, it's a big outlay for most DIY'ers.Overall I was really impressed with the performance of this solder station. It was akward to get used to at first, but adter a while it seemed quite intuitive amd did everything I wanted it to, and I feel that I only scratched the surface of it's full capabilities. However, I have a station that cost less than a third of the price of this and I have to say that the results were comparable.

Fairly easy to use giving me good results
The YIHUA 982D-I Precision Hot Tweezers Soldering Station arrived the next day.The soldering station was well packed any looked to be very well built and comes with 3 different tweezer tips/sponge/cable holder/reel with solder on / power cable. and instructionsI found the station to be fairly small which is great it heats up very quick and the temperature which can be set is on the small lcd screen with most of the other settings and manual is there as well. There is also a password lock needed also auto shutdown if not used (time can be set )also pre set channels for set temperatures and a sleep mode if tweezers are placed in the holder.I have used it a couple of times and found it to be quick accurate and fairly easy to use giving me good results so I am pleased with it but I do think the price is a little high.
