Works Great
We mounted this to the outside of our church building to extend wifi to portable building about 50' away. It provides a strong signal to the new space. Easy to mount and install.

Made a big difference in connectivity
These were recommended by our IT guy to update our old access points. We have 3 acroos 10 acres and have perfection connection from our phone and ring cameras.

Excellent price/performance if you are technically proficient. Software leaves something to be desired
The net: the performance of this unit is great, with excellent coverage and the mesh capability to run several APs and have them cooperate. You'll need to be technically proficient to get this configured -- it is most definitely not plug-and-play. I highly recommend using the phone/iPad app to configure the unit. The Controller software is a poor user experience, the cloud service licensing is an enigma, so don't bother with it.The Ubiquiti APs are excellent for mesh environments where you have several APs to get the coverage you need, and you want the best radio and network performance for clients within this area. This unit is designed for outdoor installation and comes with all the mounting hardware and the POE injection "brick" to get everything up and running. It could be used indoors, of course, but there are other units that are smaller and less intrusive for that application.Unlike a consumer-grade WIFI router, this is an Access Point only. There is no gateway router inside this unit -- it just looks like an Ethernet switch from a Layer 2 perspective. If you don't know what I am talking about with these terms, this AP is not for you. Getting it up and running was a matter of plugging the Ethernet cable into the power brick, and plugging that into the wall outlet. It's set up to get an IP address via DHCP out of the box, and then you need to use Unifi software to complete configuration.I installed the Mac version of the Unifi controller. It's a Java app, so when you start it up there's a delay while it boots a Java VM and app server, and then you use a browser to reach the app running on your local machine. The first thing you'll see is a big red Privacy Error screen and a warning that something might be trying to steal your information. This is because the app forces HTTPS access but then uses a self-signed certificate, which all modern browsers will warn you is a bad idea. A few "Are you sure you really want to do this?" clicks later you get to the controller screen where you have to log in. There's a default username/password combo in the small print of the manual for the device, and you can set up your own account, but don't forget the password because the password recovery function doesn't work. Confusingly, this is a different username/password than the one on the router itself. And don't ever try to delete and re-install the UniFi controller, because it won't reinstall. I could go on, but you get the picture: the new user experience for the controller app is pretty awful, so I don't recommend it.Instead, I'd recommend you download the Unifi app for IOS or Android. I downloaded it to my phone, it found the AP on the local network, and I was able to get into the device and quickly configure everything I needed without all the hassle of the controller. You will need to explicitly increase the channel bandwidth in both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radio configurations to get the best performance. Why isn't this the default? The meshing doesn't require any configuration, which is excellent. I'd recommend you run the built-in RF survey before putting the unit into production. It takes about 5-10 minutes and enables the unit to pick the best radio frequencies. In a very noisy city environment I am getting excellent range and performance from the unit.

Ships to US with European power cord
Note, if you are intending to use the included POE adapter, it ships to the US with a Europe style "Type F" power cord. You will need to get a US style power cord for use in the US, or utilize POE off a switch.

Easy to mount, complex software
Purchased two UAP-AC-M-PRO access points for use on farm. Third UPA-AC-M in garage as access point for inside building. Three antenna provides WiFi access and stream Lorex HD camera for cattle pen. Replace different brand of antenna that would not stay connected. Most likely due to distance between antenna. Physical installation was very easy, good mounting hardware provided. Getting all components to show up on Unity software was the hard part. Tech support was very good and spent a lot of time working with me. I used a Raspberry PI 3B to run the Unity software since I had one. Would use a cloud key next time, guaranteed to work and not that much of a cost difference if you had to purchase Raspberry Pi parts. Tested system at my house for a week then installed at farm. So far so good, waiting for big snow storm or heavy rain. Nice feature of Unity software is it will notify me by email if one of the antenna goes off line. Wish signal was a little stronger but camera video looks good. I provided 4 stars because of software issues but there is a learning curve with anything new.
