Door works exactly as advertised - because of the way it hinges, it never jams with debris from the coop litter - the door sweeps itself clean every time it moves. Huge improvement over the guillotine type whose tracks fill with litter and then can't close right. The timer works great and the door operates smoothly and quietly. The solar panel does an excellent job of keeping it charged up even on cloudy days. We've actually had about 5 days of rain and it hasn't had an issue keeping up. The chickens do push against it with impatience when it first opens and I'm wondering how long the gears inside will stand up against them, but so far it's solid and sturdy and they have to wait until it opens about 1/3 of the way so they fit through.Installing this was incredibly simple. They size of it perfectly fit the door that was already cut into my coop, which is a prebuilt shed we had delivered. I also think this door is a good value - it has all the features we needed without costing a huge amount. Excellent convenience.Did I mention the remote? It has a remote that works from my house which is about 150 ft away from the coop... but even better - this coop door is facing away from our home - we can't see it from the house. Yet the remote will still open and close that door. Very handy for stormy days or for when I notice that a couple of my chickens stayed out later than usual and need me to let them in.

I love this door opener. Sometimes at night I would forget to lock up my chickens. It wasn't a pretty site. I was going to take a trip out of state and had no way to lock them up at night so I ordered this door opener. The hole to the original door was too big but it wasn't hard to customize it for this one? Just make sure you get the door perfectly level all around or it won't open or close and lock all the way. I haven't used the solar panel yet so I can't really comment on that. I did charge it before I left and had to reset it. We had it set up to open and close at a specific time and it went back to the light setting. I'm just glad I caught it before I left. I would buy this door again. We are plagued with raccoons that love to kill chickens and I can't see any way for them to get in. It locks up very tight.

Update05,20,2025. The company reached out to me after they read this review and are sending me a new door. Did not request it but they took it upon themselves to make a customer whole again. This is amazing customer service. Do not hesitate to buy from them, they are all about the customer and his or her satisfaction. All I can say is they are awesome to deal with. For 7 months this doors operation was flawless. This morning the door was not closed. I have it on timer and it has never failed until today. It works manually when using the open or close button. Shut it off letIt set awhile then turned back on and reset all timers and light sensor modes. Waited for the close time to arrive and when it did, the door failed to close. I hope this is just a fluke and the new one I will buy lasts awhile longer.

This is a 4-star review because I have only had the door installed a couple weeks. So far it has worked perfectly. It was easy to install, but there are very small tolerances on each side for the mounting screws, so you need a precise cut. The rough opening for my previous door was bigger than this door, so I mounted this door on a piece of plywood, then screwed the plywood over my previous opening. My previous door was an up and down design, which required a many battery changes and the push buttons finally failed. Also, the previous door was always getting shavings and dirt piling up in the bottom track so the door would not always shut well. With this door, opening like a regular door there is no dirt or shavings collecting in a track at the bottom of the door. There is a "bolt" that comes down and keeps the door secure once it is shut, however the "bolt" does not overlap the metal very much so I'm not sure how it would stand up to a determined critter at night (my run is pretty secure though). The manual knob to open and shut the door is a great back up. The control panel was easy to program and looks nice. The remote worked from about 20' away and was a little inconsistent for me. The solar panel wire is a good length and plugs into the side of the control panel. However, there is no rubber cover over the receptacle, so I don't know how it will hold up to the weather over time (my door is under cover though). Personally, I can't see how the USB charger will be practical for me to hook up since my outlet is inside the coop and the charging wire is short and comes without a plug. The solar panel is very sturdy and has worked well charging the battery (it faces south). However, the solar mount is made of plastic and a little awkward, so that does concern me a little given the heavy panel, but I was able to mount it securely without cracking it. So far I'm pleased with this door, like it much better than the up and down door, and believe it was priced well among the competitors.

Bought this item after pondering for some time. Love it!super easy to set up was planning on using the adapter to plug into the coop but the solar feature had a long enough cord to allow me to mount on top of the run and so far is working great! Girl are not bothered by it and super easy install and programming. Even has a remote although not likely to use. Time will tell if it remains a 5 star purchase but so far so good.

Purchased this product after reading several other competitors product information and decided on this one. We were totally impressed with the easy installation. It works great and is better than we imagined. This swingout door allows for no clogging at the opening at the bottom of the door. We have friends that have changed doors that operated up and down for this very reason. We absolutely say, buy this one for sure! You won't go wrong!Bill and Pam HillOhio
