Essential for disposing of blades.
I get through a lot of scalpel blades. One of my hobbies requires a very sharp blade and careful cutting. The only way to achieve that is with scalpels. Craft knifes are too thick, and often the blades are not that good. With this, you simple remove the blade from the scalpel and drop it into the slot on the box. Depending on the scalpel you are using, you might not have to remove it, as the box is designed so you place the end of the scalpel into the slot, press down (on the lid or scalpel) to release the blade and withdraw the handle. No risk of injury to yourself. The downside of crafts like mine is that you can't just throw scalpel or craft blades into the bin once they're used. That is dangerous and you could end up with a nasty fine if somebody injures themselves taking your trash. This little box is one of those "must have" items if you have sharps to dispose of. I couldn't tell you how many blades fit in this, but I bought one three years ago and have just had to replace it, and as I mentioned above, I get through a lot of blades. I would say that there was somewhere around 350 blades in the box I've just disposed of.That in my opinion is value for money.

works well, but eventually wears out
I like these scalpel blade removers. There is a little technique to get used to for using them, but once you learn it they are very easy and work reliably. Eventually they will wear out and then need replacing.
