Aquaman by Geoff Johns Omnibus

For decades Aquaman was considered a joke, all that ended when Geoff Johns took over the book. As a matter of Fact he asked for the book, people at DC told him it was a waste of time. He proved them all wrong.Geoff did wonders, in short time Aquaman became a seller and Nobody anymore considered Arthur Curry as a joke, he never was actually, but Thanks to Johns that bad reputation is now history.Not only Johns makes Aquaman great, but he also manages to drag from obscurity the character of Mera. In few issues He establishes Mera as one of the greatest female characters in DC. Mera has been in comics since 1963, but till Johns she was just Aquaman's wife. Incredible how past writers did not realize the potential she had. Johns in his run makes her the co-lead of the book, and for the heavens Mera is indeed Awesome and a real badass.Johns manages to make new contributions to the Aquaman lore from the Trench to the Others.He avoids the trapping of too many supporting casts, focuses on Arthur and Mera and their iconic relationship. Johns run is also a repudiation of all that hindered Aquaman in the past. He makes him clean shaven and majestic looking not the scuffy old looking character of the 90's. The art deserves a mention as well, Reis does a terrific job.Johns deserves all credit and in my opinion he re-created Aquaman, what many in comics saw as impossible, Johns achieves in from the start of his run.I recommend this book as an Aquafan, as a comic fan. This is the entry point in Aquaman, although I must warn, that runs that followed this, will never reach the level of Johns. As a matter of fact neither any runs that preceded it. The book also serves as basis for the movie that became the best DC movie at Box office.This is the Best Aquaman you can get and probably for a longtime. A run that did Justice to one of the most unfairly underrated characters in comics. Finally the reputation of the King of the 7 seas and of his Queen has been restored by an amazing Writer.

I'd like to start by saying the product came in perfect condition.Aquaman by Geoff John's is when the Aquaman character reached his peak. This run is phenomenal. The Trench, The Others, The Throne Of Atlantis (my personal favourite arc in the book) and Death Of A King are really deep storylines that give Aquaman, Mera and Black Manta so many layers that have been previously missing from their characters. This run makes the Aquaman series feel so much more relatable and grounded in the best way possible.If you like the film you'll love this book. The movie really took all its storybeats from this Omnibus. If you like Jason Mamoa's sufer bro Aquaman then you'll find the Aquaman in this book very different. Less of a cool guy and more of a human being. I much prefer this book to the movie.Having this run in Omnibus format means the beautiful art work is even more stunning. Oversized art work, top tier vibrant colours, the art in this book is some of the most colourful and beautiful art work I've ever seen in an Omnibus. Buy this book, its outstanding. I didnt regret it, niether will you!

This book was my first foray into an omnibus edition that went beyond 400 pages and I liked it a lot. It generally takes me a few dozen pages to get into the feel of a graphic novel, since I'm fairly new to this medium.This is the art style and illustrations I was hoping to find (realistic rather than cartoony, feels ironic saying that, I know) when dabbling into the world comics. And of course, the stories were engaging with plenty of action.Given that there so much fantastic art, I suppose I would have liked a little more dialogue, (that's probably the reader in me).

Unexpectedly was good.

Seeing as Geoff Johns contributed to the movie I wanted to find out more of his work. If you want to hear the voice of Aquaman/Arthur Curry, you will definitely find it here. The comic visuals & colouring which inspired the movie are also here. I knew nothing about Aquaman or Geoff Johns so I hope WB keep him for a sequel otherwise it won’t feel the same. And huge credit to the artists notably Ivan Reis for envisioning those trench monsters, their impact is not to be underestimated.This book is beautifully sturdy and well bound for it’s size & weight. Paper quality is excellent, thick enough so it has no show through to compromise on visuals.The visuals, story, world building leave you wanting more. Definitely a bargain as it’s not split into volumes like the others. So save money.

Great omnibus collecting John's run of aquaman, well worth the price

I hadn't ever read any standalone Aquaman stuff up until this and I thought it was great. Read it in 2 sittings. Struggled to out it down- even though it does weigh a lot!
