The Poet: A propulsive novel of female empowerment, solidarity and revenge Paperback – Big Book, 18 May 2023

The power of The Poet is in its plot and its lyricism. As beautiful as it is visceral, this tale of abuse and revenge left me reeling. Tom is as appalling as Emma is engaging, everything you want from a book’s main characters. Since reading the physical, I’ve listened to the Audible version too and was equally stunned by the language. Every single word earns its place. Incredible.

Gripping read, intellectually written, characters were so real. I would definitely recommend.

I obviously didn't read the blurb properly, but assumed this was a novel. As far as I know, it is fiction, but it's written in long form poetry and I struggled to maintain focus. It's probably a good book, but it just wasn't for me.
