Mrs Balls Original Chutney

Anyone who grew up in South Africa loves Mrs. Balls Chutney. I have been living in the USA for twenty years and have tried many chutneys, including many from local Indian Groceries and home-made varieties from speciality stores. Nothing quite beats the taste of this brand. I know many recipes that use this chutney to make a wonderful marinade, or sauce for chicken dishes as well. These recipes can be found on line. I was delighted to find that Amazon had listed this incredible product. I bought six bottles and as soon as they are finished, I know where I can find them again. Either the Regular or the Peach varieties are a family favorite, even amongst my American born children. Thank you Amazon.

Being from South-Africa and growing up with Mrs. Balls this tiny little bottle has a life time of memories packed into every drop! I love the smell of this chutney cooking! It reminds me of my mother cooking dinner in front of the stove with a wooden spoon in her hand, apron around her body and a big smile on her face! It is great with Indian dishes, salads and meat dishes (especially pork!). It has a sweet, tangy, caramel flavor with small little apricot/peach chunks. When added to your favorite curry it will give you an otherworldly experience... this stuff is great!

This chutney is wonderful. I have used it in the past but was not able to find it any more in my local store and I was thirled to find it via Amazon.com. It is a very good condiment and an asset to my dinner parties. I will be ordering Mrs Balls original in the future. Tish

I like trying different condiments. I have a whole fridge full of them.What I like about this, is that its so 'un-American' tasting. Its plummy and raisin tasting. (I think that's called savory.)That taste isn't particularly popular in the States. It tastes particularly good on grilled chicken breasts.If I have a problem, is that it should cost less.

great product, I only gave it 3 stars because of the way the neck/lid of the bottle is designed...it's a narrow neck and lid so it can't close too tightly. One bottle arrived in perfect conditon, the second bottle in the parcel the lid had come off and it's contents spilled everywhere in the bubble wrap.

This chutney is simply the BEST!! My Husband and I enjoy cooking curried chicken -and Mrs. Ball's chutney is the perfect compliment to the curry flavors. We make our own curry from cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger, mustard and fenugreek. We just reordered 4 more bottles of Mrs. Balls Original Chutney this evening - don't want to be without this delicious go-with. We have never been to South Africa as the many others who have reviewed this awesome product. We are born and bred "Okies" and love Mrs. Balls!!

This product stated it was a "2x470" value and the picture showing relative size showed two bottles, and other vendors advertise a 2 pack a comparable size, yet I only received one bottle. Seller insists the 1 bottle I received is correct.Buyer beware, this is not a 2 pack, and there are other offers that provide a 2 pack at a comparable price.

The flavor is good but the consistency is strange because of the cornstarch. There are also preservatives in this and I'm not sure this is worth buying. There are several better products available.
