Very informative. Easy and delicious recipes with thorough nutritional info for all diets
I think that this cookbook is perfect for parents of newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetes kids - or anyone who wants to understand what healthy eating is and how to make delicious, healthy meals. The chapters about Type 1 diabetes are really informative - the author describes complex nutritional interactions with straightforward explanations that even a nutritional newbie like me can understand. My family has a mind-numbing list of dietary needs: gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, low-fat, low-carb - it drives me crazy trying to get meals on the table that everyone can eat and love. This easy-to-use cookbook gives thorough and accurate nutritional information for each recipe and labels each one clearly. Makes it simple to find recipes that meet exactly the kind of diet I need it to. Plus, the recipes are super easy and - unlike other cookbooks I've bought in the past - these recipes are not just embellished retreads of basics that everyone knows how to make. The recipes I've tried so far have been winners - love the peanut butter protein bites! Yum!!

Not a bad book to try!
I got this for my niece who was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She is only 4. Very unfortunate. I would have to say that there are many recipes in here that she probably will not like. Kids are very picky at this age. Perhaps when she is older she will try more dishes. I think that this is a good book for older children up to adults. Maybe a few recipes that may entice the little ones. It isn't a bad book and even a good book for people in general who want to eat healthy. Plenty of ideas in this book for low sugar, low carb dishes, etc.

A Must Have!!
This book is a must have for you or someone in your family that’s a Type One Diabetic. The first 30 pages are Type One Diabetic tips and tricks for how to manage your insulin, carb intake, glucose, a well balanced diabetic diet, and more. I recommend anyone who’s Type One Diabetic to read or skim through the first 30 pages for the extra information. My only complaint is the cookbook has no pictures of the end product of what you are trying to cook. I love to see pictures of the final product to get an idea of what it looks like and if it looks like it’s something appetizing for me to create. The only pictures in this cookbook are at the beginning of each chapter unfortunately, and they don’t have a cliff note at the bottom of the page to at least let you know what page you could find the recipe on for the picture.Other than that. Very nice book to own if you or a loved one has Type One Diabetes, and you want to figure out what types of healthy food options are available to cook from.

AMAZING with or without type 1!!
My boyfriend has type 1 and I have read books upon books to understand his condition and what steps he needs to take in order to be healthy. None of the books have compared to this one!! This book is not just a cookbook, it is an educator to type 1 beyond the insulin -- what you should eat, how to count everything and how to balance out your levels.I have made a new recipe each day and they are so delicious. This book is truly awesome. I love the variations, and my boyfriend with type 1 is so happy that these healthy meals are delicious! Plus, he knows exactly how much insulin he should account for with each meal. Thanks!!!

Informative and practical for anyone with diabetes.
I am an RD, CDE and find that is very helpful to have easily understood written material to aid in educating patients. This book is a great tool for educators. It is practical, informative and evidence based. For people with type 1 diabetes, especially, this is a terrific primer if you are newly diagnosed and a good refresher if you have had type 1 for a long time and need to get out of a rut. Although targeted to patients with type 1 diabetes, the book is valuable to patients with type 2 diabetes on insulin. The recipes in the book add to the value and can really help anyone with or without diabetes who needs to eat meals that are both delicious and healthy!
