Extending the sound.
To get longest sound holding and tilting rather than just turning it upside down down

Didn't sound authentic; way too overpriced. Wish I could get my money back!

23 seconds of full-on downpour goodness...
...plus a couple of extra seconds of tapering-off drizzle. This is a mighty fine instrument. It's amazing to get this long of a shower out of a rainstick that's a shade more than 2 feet high. The downpour is nice and loud and doesn't sound artificial. Its flat ends make easy standing and flipping, and it's light and short enough to make one-handed flipping a breeze. The LP456M Monsoon Rainmaker is also very easy to look at.The guy who delivered it to my door was super worried. He thought something glass-fragile had shattered into a thousand pieces. I eased his mind when I told him he'd just experienced a cloudburst-in-a-box. Even inside the box it sounded decent, and once I had it unpacked I could almost smell the rain every time I flipped it over. Highly recommended.

Great sound in a very nice package
This is a well built rainmaker. Ours came shipped in just it's original box (no outer box) with just a little bit of (popped) bubble wrap around it and I'm actually surprised (based on the looks of the box) that the instrument didn't suffer because of it. My wife opened it up as soon as it arrived (it was kind of obvious what it was). She had no idea the sound would last so long (15 seconds or so) and sound so good. It's too nice to let the little kids play with, so we got a couple of small cactus based ones for her younger students. They like to shake the little ones but they don't compare; this one has a real "Wow" factor whenever she gets it out.

In my opinion this rain stick is really awesome The key for longer flow of the beads inside is to trickle down is to have it on a 10, 20, or 30 degree angle and the turn it over in a about 40 seconds or so to get a long lasting sound. I had lasting rain for over a minute. Also, I find that using this instrument along with an LP Ocean Drum and an LP Thunder Chamber are a great combination! Be sure to flick the stage lights on and off rapidly while using them to (WOW) the audience..

Another 15 Second Clunker, Not 30 Seconds
The company that makes these (LP or Latin Percussion) advertises that the rain sound lasts 25 to 30 seconds. There are even a couple of youtube videos that show this. Like the other reviewer, the one I received lasted only 15 seconds of sound, which is about HALF of what they claim. Maybe they are now "down sizing" on the number of beads they put inside to make the rain sound. I was very disappointed and felt ripped off. A 15 second difference is HUGE in these instruments. I returned mine for a refund.
