Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Lukas, a tough nightclub bouncer struggling to raise his 8-year-old daughter. One day, Lukas loses control during an altercation with a client and ends up in jail, while his daughter is taken away from him. Things take an unexpected turn when Interpol recruits Lukas to bring down a Dutch ringleader operating from Belgium in exchange for his daughter's custody.Includes subtitles for the Hard Of Hearing

Straight to TV sorted or film
Bought for my dad have watch what I can remember good movie but say a action budget movie. Lease he seems to do most or his moves . Instead another well known action star in his last decade or movie seems to rely on his pea shooter and stunt double with a road kill of a wig to do his scenes. Find last decade of movies not as good as earlier Claude van damme movie. But find it with alot of modern movies ideas rehashed.

Not much kong-fu.
Quite an enjoyable film to watch, van damn plays a Bouncer in a club first, then becomes a bodyguard to some drug dealers, who then becomes a informant to the police.

Van Dammaged
Jean Claude Van Damme discards his usual trademark roundhouse kicks and frenetic action spectacle in favour of a more downbeat story that features the ageing Belgian bruiser channeling his turns in 'JCVD' and 'Until Death' rather than those of 'Knock Off' and 'Universal Soldier'.JC is Lukas, ex-bodyguard and now making coin by bouncing in what looks like a nightclub if directed by Michael Bay. When he accidentally harms a patron and loses his job in the process, Lukas is forced to work in a seedy stripjoint which is owned by a local crime lord. Along the way, he is recruited by federal agent Maxim (Sami Bouajila) to infiltrate this crime syndicate's operation whilst attempting to keep things afloat with his 8 year old daughter Sarah (Alice Verset), whom he has vowed to protect following the death of her mother...The movie, although very well directed by Julien Leclercq is a fairly dour affair. With a tone squarely aimed at the insomniac crowd, it seems to exist in a world weary twilight landscape where only the damaged can truly exist. Each character is either a victim or an aggressor and even the love between Lukas and his daughter is quickly sidestepped in favour of someone being maimed or another horrid person being... well, horrid. Sure, its real life but man, I could have done with a little more 'light'. Thankfully, JC has lost none of his star power and is solid throughout - each line on his face tells a story of a man totally engulfed by the horrors of life. He's a good actor and its a shame that he's not in more high profile stuff - he's genuinely good. Also good are Sami Bouajila and Sam Louwyck who embody their roles well, ensuring the very generic screenplay (by Jérémie Guez) is given deeper meaning and exploration. Kudos also to Cinematographer Robrecht Heyvaert who elevates the movie with sumptuous visuals alongside Benjamin Courtines razor sharp editing - its a great looking movie with an excellent cast - just a shame it so depressingly earnest. I'm not saying I wanted a knockabout 'Universal Soldier: The Return' type flick, but at my time of life - all this fake drama does nothing for me. But that's my problem, not yours.Dazzler Media's UK Blu-Ray release sports a very fine transfer bolstered by excellent audio. I watched the dubbed version (which I must admit was by accident and would have normally plumped for subtitles, but hey it was a lazy night) and it was well produced. All in all, its a great looking film filled with good acting and above average production values - problem for me personally, it was just a little too dark. I'm not saying that's a bad thing and those looking for something grittier may be rewarded by a very well mounted Van Damme flick, but for me I just felt it was a little too grim with a seen it all before screenplay. Recommended for those in search of a more hardcore JC movie, those still yearning for the silliness of 'Hard Target' may come away a little letdown.

A must see for any van damme fan !
One of my childhood biggest idols Jean Claude Van Damme back to his best no doubt about it. The bouncer has a storyline that has you hooked from start to finish you see another side to van dammes acting and how he deals with things during the film which i feel really captures that sense of it really happening and it could be believable. The film has a dark and gritty and raw feeling about it and the music is tense and the whole movie has an atmosphere that makes the movie look real. The action scenes are really good aswell and you start to care for van dammes character (Lukas). It's one of the best van damme movie in years a must see for any van damme fan if he keeps up with making great films like these and gives his all then the legend is back keep them coming. 💪🏻😉
