I rarely write reviews on products and almost never return an undamaged item. Especially related to DIY. This book made me do both. For an "ultimate guide" this book offers very little actual guidance. Far too much of the book isn't even related to the title.There are pages and pages covering very basic woodworking knowledge and 1 1/2 pages on installing base and wall cabinets. Check out the table of contents. If you read the first few pages, you've pretty much read the bulk of actual cabinet construction info contained in the book. Do I need a whole page covering nail sizes? Maybe it should be called the "Ultimate Guide to Nail Sizes". Also, does a coffee table or bunk beds really count as home storage solutions?This book reminded me of the old joke, "How To Become A Millionaire" Step one: First you get a million dollars. Step two:... Save the trouble and spend your money elsewhere. One book iI found to be very helpful was "How To Make Kitchen Cabinets" from American Woodworker. It extensively covers every aspect of the subject, never assumes you already know something and applies to any part of the house.

I'm desperate for storage space in the house and in the shop. Lots of nifty ideas here with good pictures. Will start with storage needs in the shop. Hoping I find lots of good directions for my selected project. But if not, the ideas are still great and I will figure out the "how to" and go from there. I have looked through the book, but not read it from cover to cover. Hope to have it finished soon.
