I've tried lots of cutting boards and many were too heavy or didn't last. I've only had this board 2 days so I don't know how it will last but the weight is perfect. Initially, the smell was very strong but I thought it smells nice. The smell has dissipated since I washed, dried and then let it air dry. I have Global Japanese knives and love them. Since they're rather expensive, I want a board that will not damage the edge. This board is supposed to prevent dulling the knives. So far, I highly recommend it.

This cutting board is absolutely perfect for my Miyabi knives! I had been eyeing those popular teak cutting boards for a while, but everything I found was either too pricey or too heavy, so I stuck with my Joseph Joseph plastic cutting board. My husband, who’s the better knife user (and the one who insisted on buying the knife set when I couldn’t even cut tofu properly), always said I’d ruin the knives without a proper cutting board. I didn’t want to invest until I was sure, but now that I’m the one using the knives more often, I see what he meant.It finally dawned on me that the knife company would probably make the best cutting board for their own products. I looked up Shun’s cutting boards, fully expecting to spend a couple of hundred dollars. To my surprise, the price was very reasonable, so I ordered it immediately. It was supposed to arrive later this month but showed up in just three days!First impressions: The board is gorgeous and lightweight, making it easy to handle. Using it today was a dream—it’s gentle on my knives, easy to clean, and feels so much better than my old plastic board.I’m so impressed with the quality and performance that I plan to order the small and large versions next. Highly recommend this cutting board to anyone with quality knives—it’s a worthwhile investment!

Purchased the small & medium size boards for daily kitchen use. Needed a lightweight wood cutting board that was easy to maintain. 4 star rating as item arrived in bubble wrap packaged envelope rather than box for added protection; pricey; instructions are to wet the board prior to each use to prevent staining. Will see how these two cutting boards hold up; hopefully, will not warp & wooden cutting board will protect my good kitchen knives.

Amazing cutting board. So far seems very durable. Great size. Love that we are using something good for our family (no more plastic cutting boards for us)….And I know this sounds weird but it smells AMAZING after we wash it!

Love this cutting board. It smells wonderful and a good size. Just really need to remember to wet the board before use to avoid severe staining.

So light and durable! Never use bamboo again.

I purchased two of these. One over a year ago, an extra large one with a juice groove in it. That one is still going strong without any issues. Ordered a new one for veggies mid-October and it's already splitting where two of the slats of wood come together. I have always hand washed, air dried, without heat. I contacted Shun who informed me it's outside of the warranty window (17 days past the 90-day mark). I haven't had any issues with my original one but will no longer be purchasing their products and cannot recommend them. $80 for a cutting board to last 100 days and start splitting is ridiculous. Poor craftsmanship, poor value for the money, and horrible customer service.
