Ignore the bubble level on the wall bracket and throw away the torpedo level provided as STEP #1!
Seriously, ignore the bubble and toss the torpedo level! They were so far off it was comical! However, I don't trust any level except those I know to be accurate. So, their poor calibration did not hinder my installation. This STURDY mount was used to hang our older Samsung LN46B610A5FUZA 46" LCD that weighs about 43.5 pounds and has a VESA 400mm X 400mm mounting pattern. Included hardware was perfect to mount the brackets to the TV - no spacers needed. I threw out the lag bolts for the wall mount. It's rare that I use lags for anything these days when much better fasteners are available now with higher strength, including in shear, which is what you need to "hang." I used 2-7/8" HeadLOK fasteners, which have a broad, "wafer" head. So, no flat washers needed. One also does not need to pre-drill with HeadLOKs. They'll zip right into the stud with an 18V cordless impact driver. I hit two studs with two HeadLOKs in each stud - the mount is solid!Once I finished installing the wall mount and then a recessed electrical/coax box immediately below it, it was a snap to hang the TV onto it! I did it myself first shot and the top of the wall mount is 60" from the floor. The TV slid easily on the bracket till perfectly centered. In my installation no tilt was needed, and I tightened the upper bracket locks before hanging the TV. As for the many reviews criticizing the bottom lock screws, all you need is a screw driver of proper length or a ratchet with an extension of proper length and screwdriver bit. I used an 11" Phillips driver, and it took me no more than 30 seconds to tighten them both! This mount was a great buy in my opinion, and I'm glad I chose it over the bigger name brand because it would have been money spent without purpose or added benefit!

Served the purpose but with limits
Bought this to wall mount a 46" 75 lb. Sony flat screen TV being moved from the family room to the bedroom. Note: my new 55" Sony weighs only 45 lb.Pros: Very well made heavy duty metal. Finished nicely-no burrs. A lot of various hardware included to fit most of your mounting needs for various brands. They are in separate plastic pouches but unmarked as to sizes. It mounts close to the wall and holds even a heavy TV very securely. Relatively inexpensiveCons: The supplied lag screws to attach into the wall studs appeared to be about 1/4x2". I read comments by a few customers about the heads shearing off while screwing into the studs. Also, 1/2" sheetrock would leave only 1 1/2" grab into the stud less the thickness of the wall plate. I decided for the extra safety margin and bought four 5/16x2 1/2" lag screws at the local hardware store.Mounting close to the wall had a negative effect when I knocked the HDMI cables out of its connector while hanging the unit. It's hell getting it back in when you can't see what you're doing once the unit is hung. And if it's a heavy unit it's hard to take off once it's hung, especially if you're in your 70s like me. Your working blind and have to use your fingers to find the connection and orient the cable. Note: Because of the closeness to the wall, I purchased HDMI port savers from Monoprice. It turns the mounting orientation of the cable to parallel to the TV instead of perpendicular and thus taking the strain off the cable by not having to make a sharp 90 degree bend.Ideally, viewing a TV should be done at eye level. If you're mount it higher and viewing from a bed, you'll be tilting your head upward which is uncomfortable. If you plan on tilting the mount for a better viewing angle, adjust the tilt before hanging the TV on it. There are four separate adjusting screws that have to be loosened, two with a screwdriver (you probably need a wrench to hold the nut) and the other two are lever adjustments. It's extremely difficult to reach because the lack of clearance between the TV and wall. Also, the weight of the TV makes it difficult to do a fine adjustment with a heavy TV

Freakin Sweet.......
ok ive been holding out on going all out on a tv mount for a few months now. I was ready to buy a mount for $179 at target, and boy am i glad i didnt lol. I have a 55'sony bravia LCD (her names shelly 2.0) And a mount for that size tv is big bucks at a best buy, k-mart, target etc.. I did tons of research online and came upon this mount at a huge price of $40 lol. At 1st i was like yea right cheapy metal i bet, but i took a chance on it and ordered. So I ordered this thing and got it in 3days. I was shocked at the speedyness of the delivery. When I opened it i was like Ehhhh. It didnt look like much nor did it look like it could take my Shelly at all. So what the heck I read through all of the 1 sheet of instructions And was off..1st off this thing comes with a ton of screws and bolts so when they claim to be universal they meen it. 2nd a blind one arm man can mount this thing. It was very easy and really just common sense. Once I got everything up I pulled and hung on the wall piece and it didnt budge at all. so that was very cool. I mounted Shelly onit and that was that. This mount took it like a champ. Strong built and everything turned out great. It tilts fine and looks freakin sweet. This is a great buy and worth every penny, hell I should send them money lol. Honestly if your tv is smaller then my 55in then get this mount. Its better to go over kill and important things like hanging a tv thats more then a few $100 bucks. This is a great great mount it even has a built in level, c'mon what more do you need to know.. get it.
