Protects My Saplings
These plastic protectors are perfect for shielding my saplings from the lawn guy's string trimmer. Without them, the lawn guy could easily girdle my trees, and that's pretty much the kiss of death. They work well and allow good air flow.

Just wat I needed to save my trees from the unaware weed whacking yard boys!
For some reason no big box store near me carries these IN STORE and must be ordered. Pricing was cheaper on Amazon and exact same thing you'd get at a big box store. Work great, won't last years, but certainly will last for the entire summer or maybe 2 if you are more cautious when weed whacking around them

Use a flat blade scewdriver - no problemo
I just installed my six-pack on 5 trees and am about to give them a test drive as I fire up my Stihl weed whacker for the first time this season. But I already know they're going to work great. They are a little shorter and narrower than I thought they would be. The height won't be a problem -- you weed whack at ground level and they are plenty tall to protect against getting too close with the trim string. Moreover, part of the appeal of the design is that they are inconspicuous -- you don't want them to be 4' tall. The narrowness means I had to join two together to get around a couple of young trees that have thicker trunks. No big deal -- the slot and clip design makes joinder easy.Regarding others' comments that the tabs are tough to get into the slots -- yes and no. If you are trying to do them with only brute finger strength, yes, it will take a couple of minutes and some finess. But with a flat blade screwdriver applied to the back points of the tabs they go in easily. More important, they are not going to come OUT easy. I disagree that the slightly tough insertion is a design defect; it's a feature and function of the material. The plastic is hard -- designed to stand up to a string trimmer smoking along at 1000 RPM, or whatever they clock out at. The material needs to be hard to withstand that. Plus, I plan to leave them on over the winter, and we have 60 mph winds here in Boulder. The tabs will keep them from sailing east into my neighbor's yard. So yes, you need to take a few seconds with a flat blade to push the tabs through the slots, but this is a First World problem.I do agree with the comment that in a less breezy climate you could probably skip the tab-slot process altogether unless you need to join two to accommodate a larger trunk. They really are tightly wound. If you have a 1" trunk, you can skip that step until the trunk gets larger. All in all, just what I needed and at the right price. Time to go test them out.

Does the job well
Previously, we had deer eat almost half of the trunk of our small cherry tree. This product is much better than putting a fence around it (which the deer pushed over). Its sturdy, the clips that secure the roll around the trunk are great (otherwise the deer definitely would have pulled them off). Its a little hard to get the clips in place, but with a bit of work, I got em through the holes. It works like a charm, no deer issues, and our tree is well protected, and it looks so much better than putting up a bulky barrier/fence around it.

What a great find!
This tree guard was the least expensive I could find yet I can't imagine any better than this one! They are sturdy and are made of a high quality. material. They were very easy to put on. I couldn't get them locked but I didn't try very hard and they don't need to be really. I have small trees so it wrapped around my trees one and a half times, without touching the tree. I highly recommend these. The only reason you would even need a different kind is if you didn't like the color. This is definitely going to save my trees from my lawn guy using the weed wacker to close.

Only fits small trunks
Bummed! I have small trees about 8-10' tall and these were too small to fit around the trunks. I had to use 2 per tree and it's impossible to hook 2 together. You would think that they would easily connect. Nope! Incredibly hard to unroll and hook clips together to secure around the tree. I ended up using wire ties to secure. Super frustrating to install, they kept rolling back. A struggle trying to keep it unrolled. However, they are durable and will protect the bark from weed wackers. I just wish there were better easier options out there.

A must for young trees
There are good quality tree guards that will fit and large spectrum of tree sizes. They are easy to install and look like they will last a long time in the outdoors. I will but them again.

Great tree trunk protectors.
The squirrels started eating the bark on my Rose of Sharon. I put these on the entire Rose of Sharon trunk and the squirrels can no longer get to the trunk bark. It’s nice that they can be tailored to the size of the trunk and expand as the trunk grows.
